Books about theme of gardening in Scriptures?

Please forgive my juvenile questions.

What would one recommend for reading about gardening or agriculture for the Biblical times?

How did agriculture affect the writing and understanding of the Scriptures?

Can’t recommend any books, but the simple answer to how it effects what is written in Scripture is that these are the things that people knew. They provided the most common way to teach by parable, or analogy or metaphor or whatever. Those were the things that People could identify with.

Today, in our societies, we might use different analogies. The rise of the large city and mass production has provided a whole other rich source of analogy…and many who teach will draw upon this for the very simple reason that this is what people today identify with most readily.

It really is no more complicated than that.

I don’t know how agriculturally deep you want to get, but there is certainly a theme of seeds and of germination in Scripture, referring to the growth of souls, the Church, etc… You also have the concept of the Garden of Eden, a sanctuary, a place of fruitfulness. In the Song of Songs and elsewhere, you have a them of vineyards - where wine is often the beverage of nuptial celebration (like at the Wedding at Cana). Etc… Don’t know any books on the subject, but those are some ideas off hand.
