What are some good Christian books to read along with the Bible? I have been trying to find clean books. Sometimes I think something is okay then run along something bad in the middle of the book.

Mostly fictional but I’d like to read spiritual or apologetic as well.
I would recommend The Lord by Romano Guardini .

I’m finishing reading my first book by Guardini called: “Introduction to prayer”. I thought it was good, but perhaps a bit demanding for someone just starting out. Although, also, extremely sober and analytical. Very enjoyable, yet not bringing with it that kind of intimacy the mystics have. But he’s an author I will go back to, and I’ll try finding some of his books in their original German editions.AlexBr:

hi @AlexBr my personal advice would be: Research a “catholic book store” near you. Normally every diocese runs a book store. Then if you happen to have a book store from the “Saint Paul society” or another religious order near you they are certainly worth a visit. And in any case, visiting a specialized catholic book store and just browsing the shelves is a good experience well worth undertaking, you’ll find plenty to choose from. My personal favorite is: hagiography, which are books about lives of the saints.

Go to a Catholic Publisher website like Ignatius Press or Sophia Institute and see what kinds of books they offer under those different topics.

The Lord of the Rings and the Narnia books are both great, written by a Catholic and an almost-Catholic. The Will Wilder books by Raymond Arroyo Inhave also heard good things about.
