I wanted to respond on here because I feel into the trap of this book. Let me give some background. I was fallen away from not only the Church but Christianity in general. I still believed in God but did not propose anything about him (you could say I was a Deist but not in the classical sense since I did believe he was active in the world)

I read these books in a bookstore and loved them, it was just what I wanted to hear. Everything was nice and lovey dovey and there were not major issues to worry about because basically you could do what you wanted but you should probably be nice, but if you werent thats ok to.

The problem with it is that it is what I wanted to hear…notice I didnt say anything about truth, just what I wanted to hear. Eventually, thanks be to God, I came out of this kind of new agey theology mainy because it has noone to go. It makes these claims and thats it, there is no challange to it, no call to holiness, not justice or mercy. Essentially its a shrug. “Eh, yea sure God is nice, dont worry, try to be a good person once in awhile, but it doesnt really matter”

It is a monument of relativism and an Idol of the self. There is no major call for others other than it would be pleasent if you did. I came back to the faith about a year ago and about three months ago I took this book off my shelf and threw it in the dumpster. It is where it belongs (Fires work to)

I just finished reading all 3 CWG by Neale Donald Walsch and I can see how the books goes much against our catholic upbringing.

However, reading the books my soul found more wisdom and faith than any other homily a priest can give. The “God in CWG books” (as you refer it) speaks the importance of love, that God is love. …
Religion separates us, love unites us.

.
Prince V as a card carrying New Ager for twenty years of my life, how I can understand your comments!

I would still agree that a book like Walsch’s is not without an idealism nor a call to love …

Unfortunately, things get way more complex than that.

If one studies Walsch’s book in my opinion, studies the God so-called in it, one will not find it hard to find many comments from this God that are very unloving.

This God so-called makes many sweeping thoughtless statements, many aimed at religion

A little bit in fact like your last statement.

I was a New Ager. How deeply I would have agreed with the New Age dogma you have expressed here:

“Religion separates us, love unites us”.

But honestly now that I am no longer a New Ager, how I see that religion, the Catholic religion has taken my dark and broken heart to an understanding of love that I could never have gained without religion …

I’ve read “The Complete CWG” cover to cover and was sucked in so deeply. I even read it a second time cover to cover. I started it a third time. I was at a weak point in my spiritual life and indeed in my life generally. So I was very vulnerable. I looked upon CWG as the “truth”. I even claimed it to be my “New Bible”. My whole attitude towards the Church changed and in fact I was absent from it for a number of years. The worst part is, I had shared snippets from the book with my teenage daughter.
Code:
Throughout the book there are some beautiful words, supposedly from God Himself, which I found quite comforting ... and so these justified the book as being "from God". But looking back now ... I dare say these were the mask of the evil one.

From my experience this is a very harmful book for any Catholic and indeed any Christian. CWG and anything associated with Neale Walsch is a blatant attack against the Catholic Church. On a YouTube clip he openly laughs at the Church and poisoning the minds of hundreds of people at the same time.

I've held onto the book, God only knows why. But having now made this statement I think I will burn it ... lest it falls into the hands of some other vulnerable soul.

I take a moment to pray to God the Father, with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of all Christians who have been harmed by these untruths and to guide them back to the only Truth and the only Love of Jesus crucified. Amen.

I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but I have to post after watching a young man named Peter Hockley’s riveting testimony about this book. Conversations with God opened him up to demonic possession. If anyone is interested, google Peter Hockley + Four Nights with the Devil. There are several Youtube videos as well as a book chronicling his frightening experiences.

Not sure which “god” Neale Donald Walsh is conversing with, but it certainly isn’t the Most Holy Trinity.
