I found a few of these books that I want to buy. I don’t want to receive the wrong message though. Does anyone know anything about these authors? Are they Catholic or not? Do they know what they are talking about?

They are both Catholic from what I can tell. And some of Diane’s books are in the Catholic Answers store, which I feel says quite a lot about her (in a good way). There is a wikipedia article on Msgr. Benson if you’d like to check it out.

Diane Moczar is a Catholic and a Historian - I am currently reading her book “Converts and Kingdoms” her style is conversational and its very easy to read. I will probably get those books you listed by her because I enjoy the one I am reading now

Msgr Benson wrote many good Catholic books. I can recommend his Life of Saint Teresa (of Avila); and his historical fiction, The King’s Achievement (about Henry 8th, St Thomas More and the destruction of the monasteries) and By What Authority; and his end times novel Lord of the World.
