I would highly recommend Romano Gaurdini’s book, “The Art of Praying.” He is Pope Benedict’s favorite author, and it might be what you’re looking for.
You can find it on Amazon for as low as $2.69 right now.

On a more practical level, I would recommend the following:
Search for some prayers that you really like and create intervals during the day which you can commit to saying on a regular basis. You can find great prayers
here.
Here’s a basic example.
Morning: praying the
Morning Offering
Noon - Midday: pray the
Angelus
Evening - Night: pray the rosary or some devotion or read Scripture or a spiritual book follwed by a brief examination of conscience and an
act of contrition.
With each of these prayers, strive to say them with sincerity and great faith, meditating on the words and their meaning. With the Morning Offering, I would share with God my goals for the day and beg of him the assistance I will surely need during moments of struggle, that I may resist any temptations and seek to glorify His Name always.
Remember to give God praise and thanksgiving; to ask for forgiveness; pray for your needs and the needs of others (family, friends, those away from the faith, for the unborn and an end to abortion, the poor and hungry, for the Pope and all clergy, etc.)
“Hitherto, you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).
Hope that helps : ) God bless!
