There are just so many books on St. Maximilian Kolbe - his story seems to have really touched people. I think he could almost rival Padre Pio in this respect.

Has anyone read St. Maximilian Kolbe: Apostle of Our Difficult Age by Antonio Ricciardi, OFM Conv.? It is published by the Daughters of Saint Paul. If you have read it, what did you like and/or dislike about it?

I would also be interested to hear recommendations for other books about St. Maximilian. Thanks.

Hi, He is one of my favorite saints. I have not read that book but did read and do have the book: Kolbe: Saint of the Immaculata". by Bro Fancis M Kalvelage FL. In the back of this book is the homily that JP II gave at his canonization as well as other quotes from Pope Paul VI. Also in the back, there is a comparison between the Marian consecration between De Montfort and Kolbe. He is considered the patron saint of IV drug abusers because he died from an injection of carbolic acid. St. Kolbe please pray for us.

I like “For the Life of the World” by Jerzy Domanski, OFM, Conv. It is biographical for the most part, but contains a fair amount of St Maximilian’s writings.

My oldest chose St Maximilian as his confirmation saint and I was able to find these books at a retreat center I visited that is home to the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate. I posted the links to the publisher above.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had never heard of Patricia Treece, but I looked up her other books and she seems like a writer I would really enjoy. I think I will get her book on Padre Pio as well. I wish she had a book on Edith Stein, there are very few biographies of her.

I’ve read A Man for Others. It’s excellent. You might also like Forget Not Love.
