All clergy need to stay out of endorsing political parties and stick to teaching the principles of Christianity.
 
As discussed in the Social Justice thread on this, Msgr. Garrity has a long history of making statements contrary to Church teaching. I would guess if the diocese wasn’t hard up for priests, he might have been put out to pasture by now.

He’s made unseemly statements about marriage in 2015.

Oh hey, look, this isn’t his first rodeo. In 2015 he expressed some bizarre thoughts on marriage.
And in 2013 he also made the papers saying some eyebrow-raising stuff.
