Here is the authentic truth about Jesus Christ, the Second person of the Blessed Trinity became Man, suffered and died for our sins.

**He left a church, so that salvation, the Gospel could be preached to the ends of the earth until the end of time.

**There is no equivicating on divine Truth, regardless of what you hear, regardless of what a pastor may say, there is absolutely no way of equivicating on truth.

Truth is truth because it is Jesus Christ. Period.

As a human body is made up of millions of different cells, yet enlivened by just one soul, presided over by just one visible head, and governed by one invisible mind, so too is Christ’s Mystical Body, made up of millions of members. enlivened by one Holy Soul, one Holy Spirit.
The church is Christ’s prolonged self. The church is given to us until the end of time. So far the record stands.
The NT came out of the church, the church before the NT, it is the church to which one turns for truth. Because the church is Christ’s Mystical Body.

**Scripture confirms this.

**1 timothy 3:15 says the church is the Pillar and Bulwark of the TRUTH.
Of course it is!
How could it be any other way?

For the church is Christ and as He said it Himself, "I AM THE TRUTH."

Another cut and paste marathon and thread about the Catholic Church being the one and only true Church while all the others are worthless. How original! ::confused:

Can we all just talk about Christ, the Gospels, and living the Christian life without eccclesiology? Some folks talk more about Christ’s Church than Christ Himself? It’s disturbing to me…

Yes. As much as we Catholics know that the Catholic Church is the true Church of Jesus Christ, it doesn’t really help to just say that and leave it at that, especially when there are quite a few other churches that make the same claims, sometimes with the same logic. 🤷

Hey, remember that Jew who claimed to be God? The one who taught that He was the promised Christ, who ended up dying on a cross after being heavily persecuted. The one who rose three days after death and appeared to many and opened the gates of Heaven…What was His name…Genious? Measles? Gerbal? Oh! Jesus! Yeah, that guy. I remember Him…

Seriously, we gotta put the focus back on Him. We are on a walk. We were walking down, but then Christ taught us to walk up. He promised to walk with us, and warned that He’d only walk up, so don’t start walking right or left.

Yeah, we have differences. But what is more imoprotant? Our unity in Jesus of Nazareth, who is the Christ, or our sad differences? The Body of Christ has been focusing on the latter for far too long. Let’s get back on track. 🙂

God bless. Ave Christos.

Bottom line: Threads like this make you look like a jerk. Knock it off already.

Do you ever actually contribute anything, or do you just poke your nose in to advocate for protestantism? I’ve seen you pop up in 3 or 4 different threads recently, and they all say the same thing.

BTW, it is impossible to discuss Christ, the Gospels, and living the Christian life without ecclesiology, as The Church IS the living body of Christ.

And if you don’t want to discuss ecclesiology, find a different thread.

I’m sorry that I don’t believe in the Primacy of the Bishop of Rome as Peter’s successor and Christ’s vicar on earth.

I’m sorry that I don’t believe in transubstantiation.

I’m sorry for my heresy of actually believing that Jesus Christ could save me on His own without me working out my charity, piety, and days of obligations to ‘help Him out’ so to speak.

(edit) Sorry, ‘cooperate with grace’

I’m sorry that I don’t believe in the infallibility of Holy Tradition.

I apologize for believing that marriage is a holy estate to which all men and women are welcomed, regardless of their call to serve in Christ’s church.

I’m sad that I’ll spend a long time in Purgatory for these heretical beliefs (I tried to figure out how much time I would have to serve but I had trouble finding anything in the Scriptures.)

If the goal of your thread was to insult those of us who see Rome as a tyrannical dictator preying on weak consciences by tying them to days of obligation, penitence and rosary beads to work out their own salvation, then you have completely and utterly failed.

The non-Catholic members of this board are not interested in your self-righteous blather. It’s obvious that you are insecure about your beliefs. As an LCMS seminary student, I am quite familiar with how horribly ‘heretical’ I am, and Luther was. I get it. I don’t really care. Please go elsewhere to rant about Christ’s ‘one true church.’

Sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia, solus Christus, Soli Deo gloria 🙂

What do you have against Pope Benedict 🤷

So are you saying you are someone who believes the above and just were not offended

Catholics members are not generally interested in peoples self-righteous blather either 😉
As an LCMS seminary student
May God bless you on your journey.
Sola scriptura,
Can’t agree, but I would be interested in your definition of it and what the doctrine implies to you.
sola fide
Depends you your definition of fide I guess.
sola gratia
Amen!
solus Christus
Amen!
Soli Deo gloria
Amen!

 This was no different than the OP.

Welcome to the forums and God bless you
Thank you for the welcome. Upon rereading my post I really do sound a lot like the OP 😊 I just really like lurking these forums, and lately it seems like every other thread on this board is “OMG WE HAVE THE ONE TRUE CHURCH YOU ALL ARE GOING TO PURGATORY” and it gets kind of old. I suppose that I’m asking for it by being on catholic.com, I just enjoy the theological banter most of the time. I just don’t like being trivialized because I’m ‘outside Holy Mother Church.’ To be honest, if the Pope could straighten out justification and the whole ‘infallible’ tradition thing, most conservative Lutherans would be on board. 😃

Obviously you don’t read my posts, pipester. I contribute plenty and have a great deal of things to say that I feel are constructive and hopeful. And I like your choice of words with “poke my nose in” when I agree with a Protestant. I don’t suppose if I agreed with you like some mindless drone that I’d be “poking my nose” but rather I’d be considered a brilliant genius and a thoughtful, fruitful poster. You base your judgments on people from your vantage point, if it promotes your agenda. I have the right to say what I want, where I want and I couldn’t give two hoots if you like it or not, period. People like you drive me up the ever-lovin’ wall because you don’t read the entire posts that a poster writes. I have many many many times defended the Catholic points of view. Were you under a rock when I was debating Protestants about the Cyprian vs. Stephen debates? I’ve defended the Church’s stance on Mary, Sacraments, Papacy, against women’s ordination, against homosexuality, you name it. Go back and take the effort to read my body of posts, not just the last four or five. You’ll find I’m fair and try to call it as I see it. Yes, Protestants are intelligent and thoughtful, loving Christians, too. I’m not afraid to defend a Lutheran or Anglican theological point if I agree with it. If you don’t like that, tough cookies. Couldn’t care less. Change the channel…

And furthermore, don’t tell me to find a different thread, bub. I don’t need you bossing me around as if you’re my schoolmaster. You have 11 posts and I’m supposed to think you’ve got a lot of street cred in here. After eleven posts you come in here and set me straight…:p:p:p

And YES it is indeed possible to talk about our Lord Jesus Christ without ecclesiology! It’s called a Bible study…also, can’t you just discuss the Gospels? Can’t you just talk about the words of our Saviour, the words of Paul, how to live the Christian life? Do you have to talk about liturgy, validity, liturgy, validity, liturgy, ritual, ritual, proper form and intent, apostolic succession 24/7? I talk with Protestants and Catholics about Christ outside of a Church context. It can be done! Yes indeed…look into it sometime. Try to focus on Christ Jesus a bit more and a little less on the men here who are His servants. It can be done!

I have a lot of respect for the LCMS. God bless you in seminary and I wish you well. Now I better duck and prepare to get hit with some tomatoes for that statement! lol 👍

Here is something that may interest you if you haven’t already read it. Keep in mind that opinions on it vary greatly within both the Lutheran and Catholic camps. What can ya do 🤷

Thank you for the link. I have read it. Unfortunately it does pain me that the Church isn’t unified, and probably never will be. Why? Because Lutherans have been apart from Rome for so long that we’ve developed our own traditions, seminaries, theologians, etc. and even if Rome could accept the Unaltered Augsburg Confession (which it never would) we still would want to keep our ‘distinct Lutheran heritage.’ From Rome’s side, the Pope would have to decide that he isn’t the rock of the church (Lutherans are generally okay with the episcopate, but the top level being a group of cardinals rather than a single Pope) and give up his power, which he never would.

In a time when there are ‘Christian’ denominations that actually condone abortion, homosexuality, etc., it becomes more and more apparent that Rome and the Lutheran church are much closer to each other on the moral/theological spectrum than is sometimes thought. And I fear that once Calvin and Zwingli opened the door to all kinds of heresy (denying Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, etc.) the Church can never be unified. 😦

I looked for a smilie that threw a tomato but was unable to find it so I thought I would just tattle on you :onpatrol::bluelite: in the hopes that someone else could find it. Not because you respect the LCMS either, but because I wouldn’t want you ducking for no reason.

You have been put on notice 😉

Lutheran and Catholic dialog has also come a long way too and the Joint Declaration is proof of that.

I found this to be a good article about unification if you are interested:

That is an interesting article. I hate being called Protestant though! It’s okay I guess. I prefer catholic with a lowercase “c”. 🙂 There are ‘Protestants’ that can’t even confess the Creeds honestly. It’s sad to get lumped together with modalists like the ‘oneness pentecostals’, but I suppose human beings enjoy order and organization. 🤷

Oh quit your arguing, you’re all going to hell for being outside the One, Holy, Orthodox, Catholic and Apostolic Church! you can argue forever down there! 😃 I’m obviously kidding; not about my belief that the Orthodox Church is the one, true, catholic Church founded by Christ- I believe that. I’m kidding about the “everyone else going to hell part”. Really though, think about how it feels being told that and what good it actually does- did I scare and shame you into joining the Orthodox Church? Would a few patristic quotes tacked on do it? The original post is a great example of not only how not to evangelize, but how to actually alienate others (and probably even more firmly ground them in their beliefs by way of a defensive reaction to such grandstanding and tactlesness. )

To the protestants- hey at least they’re only sending you to purgatory and not damning you to hell like past generations. 😉

Forgive this sinner.
