Bought NABRE is this ok for traditional catholic study?

I just bought the New American Bible Revised Edition 2011, does anyone here use this bible for every day use?

Well I don’t use the NAB at all. I use the DR (Douay Rheims). I know, the USCCB recommends its use, but I don’t care for it. And you’ll find lots of folks on these Forums that agree with me. 🙂

Are these three Identical? Who gets the money for the one I purchased, does it go to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (where I would like the money to go)? Its just the one I bought (the first link) states it is by “Various Authors” but edited by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops?

What are your reasons for not recommending the NAB? Isn’t it considered to be more accurate as it utilises the Dead Sea Scrolls?

I grew-up with the KJV. It’s what I know.

I use the Knox version. The style is similar - its pretty when read aloud. 😛

I’ll repeat what I heard Fr. William Casey (highly traditional and orthodox priest of EWTN fame) say regarding the NAB: It’s fine except for the commentaries. I have come across more than a few questionable things in the commentaries and footnotes. The Douay Rheims is more reliable in that respect (in addition to being a more literal translation).
 
Baronius Press is coming out with a reprint of the Knox bible. I personally cannot wait! I love the RSV and Douay-Rheims for Scripture. As others have noted, watch out for the commentary and watered down Catholic verses…Luke 1:28 comes to mind.
