In the U.S., though, the congregation kneels during the Eucharistic Prayer.
Not everywhere. There are plenty of churches that do not have kneelers where many people stand. (Some who are more traditionalist may kneel on the floor.) There are other churches where people choose to stand.

OK, so let’s review:
  • There are churches in the U.S. where the building committees have decided to make it impossible for congregants to follow the rubrics for posture during the Eucharistic Prayer.
  • There are Catholics in the U.S. who have decided (personally) not to follow the rubrics for posture during the Eucharistic Prayer.
…and your response is “bow your head, 'cause the GIRM says and it’s proper to do so”? Hmm… 🤔 😉

I’m not the one who pointed out what the GIRM said.
Just noting that not every parish in US kneels; I’ve been to two churches in just the last week that like I said, lack kneelers. It’s not uncommon.

Leaving the thread now, have a nice day.

Or sometimes Masses are celebrated in non-standard non-sacred spaces for exceptional reasons.
  • In an auditorium
  • In bleachers
  • In a gymnasium or banquet hall
  • In the open air
  • Among others
In some of these places some people are able to kneel. In some of these places people are unable to kneel.
But they can still show the prescribed reverence.
(And my response is “profoundly bow 'cause the GIRM prescribes and it’s proper to do so”)

Our church uses the bells, too. Didn’t know what they dated back to, though. Thanks, Warlord.

Have to say, I love your icon. Looks very ancient and…Celtic.

Someone just told me that you are not supposed to look up, but you are to bow your head in reverence when the priest holds up the consecrated Eucharist during the mass. I always look upon it in adoration and reverence. I did not want to argue, however. What is the proper thing to do?
I always assumed He was raised up in order that the entire congregation could have a good look at Him.

Yep. But, it was seemingly the corroboration of your view.

Right. And if they’re ignoring the GIRM by doing so, what are the chances that telling them that they should follow the GIRM’s instructions on bowing will work? 🤷‍♂️

Agreed; but these are the exception, not the rule.
