You don’t have to choose between bowing at the mention of God vs. the mention of Mary. It’s not like there’s some bowing quota. For what my opinion is worth (not much), I would rather bow my head at the mention of God than the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary is not a divine name. She herself is to be honoured, but she should not be praised as Jesus should be praised.
The Church’s rubrics for the Mass say you bow your head at the names of Jesus, Mary, and the day’s saint, as well as when the Trinity is invoked. If you’d like to bow your head every time “God”, or “Father”, or “Holy Spirit” is said, I suppose you can.
No one ever said anything about praising Mary “as Jesus should be praised”.
