Bowing or genuflection?

Hello, I understand that genuflecting to the Blessed Sacrament in a Church is the norm in the Roman Rite of the Church, and if you are unable to genuflect (back problems etc.) you may bow, but is it permissable for a Roman Rite PRIEST to only bow while precessng in for Mass? With a completely healthy back?

And can you clap at the end of a homily?

He’s supposed to genuflect if the Blessed Sacrament is in the Sanctuary but I can’t recall seeing that happen in at least 15 years.

I haven’t heard a homily lately that warranted applause.

When the priest and the other ministers reach the altar at the entrance procession, they only genuflect to the tabernacle if the tabernacle is in the sanctuary (and probably then only if it’s behind the altar); otherwise, they bow to the altar.

It’s rarely appropriate.

Reiterating what the others have said; the Priest and Ministers Genuflect when entering the Sanctuary only if the Tabernacle is within the Sanctuary. If the tabernacle is in a Separate Chapel the ministers will simply bow to the Altar.
