The pastor of this denomination believes the statue is of the Virgin Mary but it’s actually
St. Therese of Lisieux.

I can understand his misunderstanding of our use of statues, and his misunderstanding of honor vs worship, but …his comment and actions with the hammer on Jesus’ body on that cross?

I wonder if this same pastor would destroy an image of his own Wife, Sister or Mother or child? A double minded standard exists here.

The Saint’s image reveals “Christ Crucified”, which the Church has never ceased this biblical teaching, which the saints, martyrs continue to do in the Church.

There was a time when this Pastors anscestors never knew how to read and write. So the Gospel “Christ crucified” was proclaimed to them from images, pictures, statues so that they could hear the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed to them from images, when they could not read.

In every Catholic Church the Gospel of Jesus Christ is written on the walls, windows from images, revealing the universe in minature, when the stars image the four gospels.

Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ. God commanded His people to carve images of the angels according to the pattern of heaven placed in the holy of holies. A crucifix is when ever we see Christ lifted up, it is then we know “IAM”.

It is St.Therese.

I didn’t have the sound on but a few seconds of seeing him was more than enough.

Just ignore him and don’t watch rubbish on youtube to do with our Faith.

It’s important to watch and to hear. This is how we as Catholics are perceived by this denomination. And they, put it on youTube.

I came across when I did a Youtube app search on my phone using the word “Catholic”.

Do you think that black people need to watch and hear what white supremacist groups are saying today? I do not think so, they already know how to address the problem without hearing the same garbage over and over. The same thing should be for Catholics, we have plenty of apologetics to study we do not need to hear any more bad propaganda.

Actually, that video (that pastor and that congregation) is a “course in apologetics”.

Not different than the various non-Catholic apologists who have their own website and constantly talk down Catholicism. And who are then asked to come onto Catholic Answers Live and debate a Catholic apologist.

I commented on the video, saying a few mistakes he made.

I’m prepared to get a bunch of hate mail in my inbox now. C’est la vie! 🤷

That’s nice compared to, for example, “pope lovin’, child molestin’, statue worshipin’ pagans!” Generally, comments on youtube are some of the most vile things I’ve seen, next to websites that have no rules or charity (for example, 4chan).

People think they’re the toughest of the tough, all because they hide behind a computer screen. It’s a shame, really.

Yeah, I’ve done that before. Hey, it makes things interesting. You offered him prayers, too, so that’s good.

I have to say, though, the man looks like he’s in some random 2nd rate video-taping.

I would have loved to restore that St. Therese statue. D:

I just don’t understand why people go to such extremes to show their hate towards us!! I mean I myself when I’m around my protestant friends or just other demominations I try not to judge them or even acknowledge their little remarks about our faith, but there’s gonna come a time when I might not be so quiet and I really feel that I shouldn’t be no of should and I agree this is such a time when we must arm ourselves with good apologetics and be always ready for those who continue to bash us…and really pray for those who’s hate has grown so much into them that they see the love of Christ!!!

Rock stars pastors are so cool. They get to do all kinds of neat stunts and get applause for it to feed their egos.
