If Hollywood is going to celebrate movies about perverts (Kinsley) and abortionists (Vera Drake) then it is our duties as christians to boycott such events. Maybe we should do what someone else stated in another thread. That the night of the Oscars we should rent, (if you don’t allready own a copy) and watch “The Passion”. The Oscars is nothing more than a bunch of self absorbed people giving awards to other self absorbed people for what they stand for and not their performance in a movie.

My wife and I were going to watch it on Ash Wednesday, but now I think the idea of renting it ON OSCAR DAY would be perfect.

Thanks for bringing this good idea stated on another thread here. The more people that know about it, the better. My family will be watching The Passion on Oscar night.

I won’t be watching…you have a point!

There are two threads going on this topic–this is a copy of my post on the other thread:

I actually think it would be quite fascinating to watch the Academy Award event. I’d love to see if any of these self-appointed Hollywood “crusaders” has the… fortitude to break the lockstep with radical leftist causes and breach the deafening silence about why this film is being ignored by the industry despite its record-breaking sales and massive appeal to audiences who saw it by the millions.

Traditional Christianity, and particularly Catholicism, is one of the enduring, tolerable prejudices to this constituency.

I think it would be a good idea to rent The Passion and watch it on Oscar night even if you own a copy, otherwise how will Hollywood know we were watching something else? Or even rent another Christian movie if you own The Passion. 👍

Oh, I own it already, but my post above was all about my tangible dollars going to something other than the the Oscar network, the Oscar advertisers, or the shallow gossip and fashion industies that surround it.

I call on all people to rent or buy the movie the day before on on the day of the Oscars.

The Oscars awards are just Hollywood congratulating itself.

Self-congratulations are petty and worthless; this is the logical fallacy of the Self-Fulling Prophecy - i.e. if the desired condition doesn’t exist, scream loud enough & often enough until the desired condition is believed to exist, when actually it doesn’t.

Although it is a riot to make fun of the silly dress choices some people make. :rotfl:

Spread the word across all your email addresses and send it to pro-life groups as well. There is plenty of time to work-up a real boycott. We should get to the media, like foxnews, and even the networks as well…

The wider this is known, the better.

The Oscars are pure politics. This year they will be the most boring in a long time. I do not plan on watching. I am even going to block that channel out. The oscars are about nothing more than who can suck up the most and kiss the most you know whats. That is why Mel Gibson or “The Passion” was not nominated for any major awards. Doesnt Hollywood realize that Christians also go to movies? Hollywood has their agenda and it is evil. What if Christains were to stop going to movies all together? Hit them in their pocketbook and maybe they will realize that the very group of people they are shunning make up a substantial block of the millions they make. Imagine that, a movie about some wealthy psychotic fool who went crazy winning out over the passion of our lord Jesus CHrist. Pure sadness.

I’m too busy boycotting Fox News own hypocrisy…and if that aint enough, Bill O Reilly’s OWN immorality…I call on ALL Christians to boycott the O Reilly Factor to send a message to Bill… or is it just that when Conservatives are caught dirty it dont count cuase after all they let the word Christ flow from their lips?

Passion did get three nominations so far. Cinematography, score, and make up.

And Michael Moore didn’t get any.

Doesn that mean that Hollywood is more conservative than liberal? 🙂

Dude if I can’t watch a tv show or movie because a person sinned and fell short of what they preached I could never watch tv or the movies again and the include Mel Gibson and Jim Caveziel we all sin. Look the barrier for me does the show promote immorality.
Not if a person may be immoral in their personal lives.
John Wayne, Gary Cooper and Bing Crosby may have led less than perfect lives but that doesn’t stop me from watching many of their fine movies that suprisingly have moral lessons to teach.
O reilly is a mixed bad but overall he is an asset verses the culture wars of secularism his personal life reflects the shortcomings of a cafetreis catholic which O Relilly seems to be.
But the show of itself is not immoral.

Well Hollywood realized what only Michael Moore didn’t seem to know his movie is a documentary of fraudumentary and not dramatic motion picure. I mean was he responsible for the lighting and acting in the movie. Only Michael Moore fooled himself into thinking his movie was art. The Passion was a great looking movie I do think it merits an award for Cinematography but I won’t hold my breath.
They nominated a lot of movies that most people didn’t even bother to see. Its basically art house fair with hollywood congratulating itslef on being pro death, pro immorality etc
They had only 2 mainstream movies the Aviator and Ray. Which were ok movies but not lifechanging movie like say the Passion.
THe rest of the movies most people have never heard of and will never go to see.

Yeah, that is true but they always show the hightlight of the clothes for weeks to come. You can miss the Oscars, and still catch the funny clothes. I haven’t watched in many years. Don’t miss it. I love the idea of renting **The Passion of the Christ. ** I wish we could get momentum going on that idea.

Comment about this in every one of your favorite blogs.

Well all I can say is that when a actor/actress is awarded for portraying a psychotic killer or a crack whore & called the “best” in their field then it’s a wonder this country is faced with so much evil & filth. Sadder still is that most teenagers grow up to idolize ppl in Hollywood.
Hollyweird is a world all unto itself, believe me, I have visited the clubs on Sunset Blvd, it’s pretty scary.

If you are going to watch it anyway, would you mind letting the rest of us know who the sponsors are? I would like to avoid these products for a while.

Evidently you don’t watch the O’Reilly factor or you would see that he is not a conservative. I wonder exactly which news seems suitable to your taste?
