Don’t buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new “patriotic” can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building , and the Pledge of Allegiance on them.
However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge,
“Under God.”

Pepsi said they didn’t want to offend anyone.

In that case, we don’t want to offend anyone at the Pepsi
corporate office, either! So if we don’t buy any Pepsi product, they won’t be offended when they don’t receive our money that has the words, “In God We Trust” on it.

Just in case someone did not follow the link that was posted, please know that this is a hoax and an old one at that.

It’s interesting the CEO of Pepsi, when she was treasurer, gave a presentation to Columbia Graduates describing the world as a hand. She said each of the continents were represented by a finger - Africa was the little finger I believe, Asia the ring finger, etc. She described America, and implicitly the United States, as the middle finger, to great applause and laughter.

She later apologized. A Wiki entry can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indra_Nooyi

In response to the expected, yes, it has been a while (since May, 2005). No, I don’t forget. I haven’t had any Pepsi since! 👍

they also support abortion/Planned Parenthood:( We have stopped drinking Pepsi, Coke, sodas in general long ago for health reasons…it’s just plain old bad for you…but, when we found out where Pepsi’s special interests lie…forget it. They won’t see another penny from me–ever. And my kids…if that’s all there is to drink at a party…they will drink water.

Change the world…one pepsi at a time.👍

Given the link provide by argon091076, has anyone actually seen this Pepsi can?

Snopes.com has a little more information.

This seems to be the can behind the controversy.

As you can see, it is Dr. Pepper and not Pepsi. Nor is the Empire State Building depicted, but the Statue of Liberty.

But the can does have a three word snippet from the Pledge of Allegiance. Not the whole Pledge mind you, but the crucial words “under God” would have appeared if an ellipsis was not used.

The can was released in November 2001, as a patriotic bipartisan-minded appeal for pride and unity following 9/11. The cans were off-the market by March 2002.

**Actually according to both Coke and Pepsi tax foundation filings neither has given to Planned Parenthood at least for 2005…However Coke did give over $300,000 to University of Notre Dame and another 50,000 to ST. Pius Catholic High School…

Many times the way Planned parenthood gets its money from these companies is through matching gifts. AN employee selects who they want to donate to and then the company matches it. **

I find that hilarious, I would have applauded and laughed. America does have a “scr** you, we’re going to do what we want” attittude.

Me neither…I thought I was the only one. My husband and kids are mad at me for it too… but they know when mom goes on a rant… you better just get out of her way.

I don’t know about this…it seems doubtful. Besides that from what I’ve heard they don’t have to list all the charitable donations they make, so they could very well still be giving money to Planned Parenthood.

On a side note - presuming that Pepsi still gives money to Planned Parenthood, and still has the same Executives who donated in the first place - has anyone noticed how big they are? The own frito-lay, tropicana orange juice, aquafina, quaker [oatmeal] and anything else that has that green healthy choice logo (exculsively used for Pepsi - not some award as one may (might?) think.

P.S. They’re still on the St. Antoninus Institute’s list stantoninus.net/listab.htm

I have been waiting a long time for a thread like this because I think Boycotts, for the most part are stupid and a waiste of time. I can see people Boycotting a company for reasons as explained in this thread, but do you think they are actually going to do any good?

I guess if you are going to Boycott Pepsi for making donations to Planned Parenthood, you better go a head and throw away your Computer if it is operating Windows.

If you own an XBox, you better throw that in the trash as well.

As you may already know, Bill Gates and Microsoft have given several LARGE donations to Planned Parenthood.

Heck, I bet that car you are driving is made by a company who has donated money to some organization that supports Abortion.

No matter what product you own or buy, chances are, someone involved with that product is involved with Abortion one way or another.

I am not in support of Abortion, but I am not going to go a head and stop drinking Pepsi (even though I rarley drink soda) because they donated money to Planned Parenthood.

Besides, Pepsi is better then Coke in my opinion.

On a lighter note,

Has anyone seen that cartoon where it shows the Pepsi manager calling in his employee, and saying “You’re fired! The lab results just came back, and you tested positive for Coke.” It’s so funny!

Boycotts DO WORK.

Have you eaten dolphin-safe tuna lately??? That was a result of a major boycott!

TacoBell is now paying their tomato pickers in Florida more, because of a small-scale boycott on TacoBell.

It’s too bad the Muslum terrorists are religious extremists today. It used to be the bad guys were the atheistic Russians so we had to show we are differnt by our belief in God which is why the words under God were added. I guess we need another atheistic tyrant to rise to power again so that religion will be accpeted again in this country.

Barbara, I agree with you, however one thing you need to get across is that it isn’t just having a bad year for sales but that they’re being Boycotted. There should be a group that coordinates boycott efforts…
