I will try to explain why I think this is funny, but seeing as somebody already tried to explain it, and they did it better then I can, I don’t see how this will help…
However, I will try anyways…
because I like hitting my head against a wall…
  1. I am NOT convinced that this story is true. All the info I can find about it is on right wing, wacky, anti-Catholic and Protestant websites. These people LIE about EVERYTHING.
  1. The Church has not said anything about this yet, and until they do, I am not going to worry about it.
  1. It almost seems like you are LOOKING for things to get upset about. IF somebody cares about abortion, PRAY and WORK for change, however even you must see that not drinking Pepsi is NOT going to stop abortion from happening.
and last but not least…
  1. Boycotts rarely work, and this one, so far removed from who is killing babies here, has NO chance at all of working. Nobody is saying Pepsi is killing babies, or even that this company that Pepsi works with is killing babies, but that this company used some cells from an abortion for a test a while ago, so now I should Boycott Pepsi over it, come on.
Pax,

P.S. Please stop trying to say I am not pro-life or Catholic because I don’t think this is a real issue.
Ok, this answer I can understand and agree with.

If you’ll excuse me I’ll be off buying a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi and hope drinking it all gives me a heart attack. Lord knows I’m too stupid to belong on this damn planet.

I agree with you there Speedypizza to a point. I think sometimes people get over alarmed when news likes this comes out before checking the facts. On the other hand stories like these don’t make it to MSM so sometimes these sites (Lifesite News is AC?) are the only source. It doesn’t help that the letter from Pepsico doesn’t give a clear explanation on whether they are using aborted babies either.

Actually they sometimes do but it is a gamble. Pepsico was boycotted not too long ago due to their support for the gay agenda but after a few months they announced that they are now neutral on that support. I believe that something like this happened a couple years ago at Wal-Mart regarding saying ‘holiday’ instead of ‘Christmas’ but they went back to saying Christmas after a boycott.

I’ll have to search for the links but not until I have myself a Coca-cola and watch the latest HP movie;)

Boycotts rarely acomplish anything. I don’t drink Pepsi anyway. Here in Atlanta you can get shot for drinking Pepsi.

The Pepsi generation is aborting and contracepting itself to death anyway. I don’t fear God’s wrath as much as I do the prospect of him letting us continue until we just collapse of our own lust, greed and self -love.

Thanks, Tim. Though normally a ‘liberal’ on social matters (and in matters of Theology), I find myself increasingly wondering whether or not most of the ‘Pepsi generation’ have the wisdom and sound judgement needed to steer a sensible course when operating in a ‘liberalised’ environment!🤷

I also appreciate your sentiments on boycotts, but feel that even in the self-proclaimed home of corporate capitalism, there has to be a lower limit. How many of the execs of this corporation and it’s affiliates go to church every Sabbath and display themselves to the lesser mortals as ‘pillars of the Church’ and exemplars of God’s Word? During the week, they do this sort of disgusting thing in order to increase their profits and line their own pockets! You don’t have to be a staunch Catholic or fanatical ‘pro-lifer’ to find this sort of thing objectionable.

Peace.

I’ll do my best, but I don’t think it will work. In fact, I will tell you a deep secret that will make you happier, slim your thighs, and, better then anything else, will truly “enlighten” you.

**Lighten up. **

See? Don’t you feel enLIGHTENED?
I think that you may be wasting your time!

Good luck anyway!

Ok, here is my position. I’m very pro life, and I already don’t drink pepsi products because I don’t drink soda at all.

I’ve noticed that sour, humorless people don’t attract people to their side. Using humor and wit, you can bring alot more people to your side. You can also show people the real horror of things like this and not use screaming, yelling, or acting like a sourpuss.

There.
Au Contraire! It worked quite well for Hitler, Ayatollah Homeini and Kim Il Sung, none of whom were known for their rampant displays of public jocularity.😃

James 1:19-20
Remember this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to human anger; God’s saving justice is never served by human anger.
You’re right - a search on Google brings up results from all sorts weird, paranoid and ‘anti-everything’ groups and individuals!

However, Pepsi don’t help their case with that weasely letter from their PR mouthpieces, which even seems to lack a recognisable signature.

More accurately, Senomyx tests some of the flavors it develops by using a cell line which decades ago was started by using kidney cells of a human fetus. PepsiCo buys some of its flavors from Senomyx, but in which products those flavors are used, I am not sure. PepsiCo, of course, sells a wide variety of products unrelated to Pepsi such as Gatorade, Tropicana, Quaker, and Frito Lay. And, of course, Lipton, Sobe, Mountain Dew, AMP, Propel etc

This is a topic which has come up multiple times for discussion here at CAF. I agree that the topic is distasteful and alarming, but accuracy is important if we want to protest.
Guess my electrolytes just went down.

But hey; know that commercial on the TV with truck drivers Mr. Coca Cola and Mr. PesiCola sitting at a restaurant and the PesiCola guy taking a picture of Mr. Coca Cola guy drinking a nice cold Pepsi and sends it to Youtube? The next scene the Big Coca cola guy sends the Pepsi guy through the window to the moon.

:hmmm: I wonder if this is appropriate considering all that’s being said about fetus cells being used by Pepsi 🤷 😃

I don’t think the letter is “weasely” so much as it just does not address the issue. However you have to understand that this is a HUGE company and they have 10 letters on hand that they send to 1000’s of questions. I am betting that you would get the EXACT same response if you wrote them saying you were worried about rat pee in Pepsi. In order for them to send a new letter for this issue, it would have to go through 10 departments before it was given the okay, and for an issue that only seems to upset 108 people who are angry at EVERYBODY anyways, they are not going to bother.

However I do have a question of my own. WHY is the religious right so angry at everything, so fast to believe anything, and in general just miserable people? When I started my conversion process, one of the things that drew me into the church was the joy and peace I see in so many Catholics, not to mention the saints, in many cases literally living in the rain, eating scraps and dressed in rags, but still happy and free. I myself find that the more I pray and the closer I get to God, the more joy fills my heart. I just feel better then I ever have, why do some others not have that joy and freedom? 😦

Well, you are right on the fact that we have to be joyful and happy and often we lack that. But I think there are also times where we need to stand up to what is right (Even Jesus did that).

It has come to my attension, that Senomyx (a research partner company) of PepsiCo are using aborted infants as part of their testing process to determine the safety of artificial flavours for human consumptio!!! I am outraged! Please goggle and find out for yourselves and them join in the boycott. I am not usually political, but this demands action! Let our voices ring out in the wilderness!
Campbell Soup has decided to end its relationship with Senomyx.

Kraft, PepsiCo, Nestle, and Cadbury are still clients.

It is very interesting that you should ask this question. Strangely, it was part of the weekly message addressed to a local congregation here by a member of clergy. The message relates to the ‘dark night of the soul’, during which we feel distant from God and our fellows.
It is posited that ‘even whole nations experience such nights’, and that the USA is currently experiencing such a phenomenon.

No-one in the US needs an outsider to recite the catalogue of almost insoluble problems, economic, political and military, facing their nation. The point is, if you believe that God will stick by you and ensure that you prosper in the material world, so long as you keep His commandments, then the wheels well and truly fall off … where does that leave you? Angry, demanding answers, unable (or unwilling) to believe that you may be responsible for the mess in which you now find yourself.

Weirdly, from an outsider’s perspective, Tea Party people and other right-wingers seem to want to impose what might be called an ‘angry homeopathic political solution’. What has brought the USA low is the greed, criminality, corruption and incompetence of it’s corporate giants (how could anyone have been so stupid as to invest in those poisonous ‘mortgage’ bundles - American jobs have been going to China for 20 years, and the loans were being made to blue-collar workers!), and the crookedness and idiocy of right-wing politicians engaging in ‘military adventures’. Right-wingers seem to be making increasingly shrill demands for more of the same, and the electorate seems to want to go along with it! The rationale - if something is killing you, take more and more of it. Do you wonder why homeopathy has remained a ‘fringe’ activity?

However, I should say that I love the States (I have family in LA, Arizona and Philadelphia). That is why I say to Americans, especially those on the religious right, don’t give in to the negative feelings that grow from the ‘dark night’. Remember to love God, and your neighbour as yourself, and to act on that injunction.

Peace be with you.

Boy, Pepsi wasn’t kidding when they ran their recent ad campaign…

The taste of a new generation

the taste of Pepsi indeed comes from the new generation

Is it really used for testing safety? I might have read wrong, but I thought I read that they were using the embryonic cells to test if it’s the right flavour.

No, it doesn’t.

Senomyx does not produce its flavors by using fetal cells. And the fetal cells line it uses for testing flavors was cultured from embryonic tissue taken several decades ago. They aren’t using recent embryonic tissue.

Does anyone know if this boycott includes such places as Taco Bell, Arby’s, Applebee’s, and many others that have deals w/ Pepsi to sell their sodas?
