Who knew?

It did surprise me that McDonald’s would see joining that board as a good business move.

Honestly, I am surprised. I really thought that McDonalds would dig in. On the other hand, when they issued a press release in which the now resigned directory of homosexual affairs said that anyone who disagreed with him was “motivated by hate”, that gave groups like the AFA a good deal of ammunition. Ultimately that statement and other aggressive moves they made, backfired.

Ultimately I suppose that McDonalds executives realized that since they sell themselves as a “family” restaurant chain, promoting activity that many view is opposed to family values was a bad idea.

I do not know what happened to their same-store sales numbers, but I also suspect that in this period of global economic uncertainty, alienating an entire customer base was not a good idea either.

YAY!!! Fish sammiches on Fridays again!!! Woohoo!!! 😃

Glad it worked!!

I signed on to the AFA boycott and sent several e-mails to McDonalds, but I had no particular expectation that it would be successful. I guess I figured if they were willling to take such an outrageous stance in the first place, they wouldn’t be swayed by a bunch of Christians committed to our families. How wrong I was, and how thankful I am for it!! (I like the fish sandwiches on Friday, too…) 🙂
