The article says that pro-life boycotts of other businesses have been effective in ending that company’s sponsorship of Planned Parenthood. Are there any concrete examples of this, the article was incredibly vague?

Due to a recent corporate takeover, I am now working for a large corporation that is on the boycott list. The company provides donation matching for its employees, and Planned Parenthood is of charitable non-profit organizations.

Who in the corporation is culpable for cooperating with evil, aka the culture of death?

My company does something similar. If an employee donates to any 501(c3) registed organization, the company will match the donation. I don’t know if any co-workers have ever donated to Planned Parenthood, but it is certainly possible.

I do know that the company has also matched the donations I made for our parish mission trip to Tanzania last summer. They didn’t match my airfare :o, but all the donations I made for the various projects we did there (medical supplies, books and computers for the schools etc…)

How does that factor into these studies?

My company has a big United Way campaign each year. I guess that someone believes it’s charitable, good public relations and puts a feather in some higher level manager’s cap (“see, we’re charitable too!”). The pressure is quite immense to “pledge” or “respond” (whatever they think that means). Although one could choose not to participate (which I did do several times) pledging was “highly encouraged” through endless notes “inquiring” if we were “informed or responded and if one had already pledged we apologize”. Every year this dreaded “feeling” arrives and think about how much money goes to abortion-supporting organizations.

I will not throw money into a large, dark pool to be devoured at will by whatever (except for Caesar’s pool). We should be good stewards of the blessings we are given.

One way I was able to mollify the situation was instead of making a “general” pledge to the United Way make specific deduct…, er, pledges to abortion-free organizations amongst the breakdown of United Way “charities” listed.
