The Barrister:
On target.

Remember the Gospel reading from last Sunday? Those who exalt themselves shall be humbled, and those who humble themselves shall be exalted.

Look no further than this brood of vipers for a real-life illustration of the Gospel message.
Right on!! If I was one of those celebs that just got an Oscar, I’d dash it down on the floor, breaking the statuette in pieces, overturn the podium, and denounce the whole thing on national TV before walking out and heading for home AMEN!! 👍

If Michael Moore wins any award at the Oscars and Mel Gibson and The Passion of The Christ do not, would you boycott the Academy Awards Show from now on?
I voted Yes , but I haven’t watched The Oscars in years. I don’t go to movies and support Hollywood. The Passion of The Christ was the last movie I actually went to see and before that I couldn’t tell you when I went to a movie. I will be interested to see if Mel Gibson/The Passion of The Christ gets ANY MENTION, but I will find out the next morning. The whole Hollywood thing is so shallow to me that I just can’t stomach watching those types.

The spiritual Hollywood crumbled to the ground in 2001. I heard it fall. Mulholland Drive . 🙂

It is always so easy to boycott what one pays no attention to in the first place.

The whole thing is so superficial I don’t watch it. I’ll one up your boycott though. If Michael Moore wins an Oscar I’m not going to the movies for a year. It’s the best way to let your voice be heard.

I haven’t watched the Oscars or taken them seriously since I was a kid, and that’s been a spell.

In what way could I “boycott” the Oscars anyway? No one ever invites me.

I haven’t watched the Oscars or Emmys in years, because it would be very difficult to find a topic I care less about. I have a busy life with no time to waste on TV, radio, movies, books or websites that are not edifying, morally sound, and promote my growth and well being. The last time I went to the theater was to see Glory, about the only thing I watch on TV is EWTN, and reruns of good shows, very few movies, almost none made recently. If I was the only one living here there would be no TV. We have TIVO so I can record good movies and EWTN while sports is being watched elsewhere. this week I watched How Green Was My Valley, Babe, The Quiet Man, the Longest Day, and Into the West which had been recorded earlier, so my standards are pretty high.

I think I have watched only about 5 minutes of the oscars in my whole life. As far as I am concerned, award shows are the most boring things on TV.

Which is why they must be banned. They’re a waste of the taxpayers’ money.

I watch the pre-show for the clothes. I love making and designing my own clothes…the red carpet gives good inspiriation. The show itself is the most mindlessly boring thing i’ve ever subjected myself to. I don’t watch the actual show.

I’ve “boycotted” the Oscars for years, probably since John Wayne won for *True Grit. *The academy awards have become so politically correct and bloviated over the years that the telecast of the awards is no longer enjoyable. Mel Gibson’s *Passion–*an excellent movie–may possibly be nominated for one or more awards but I predict that it will win none. Jim Caviezel may be nominated–and deserves to be–for best actor, but the award will go to Jamie Foxx for Ray. Michael Moore’s already won an oscar and I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins at least one more next spring.
