the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (Hawkmaid’s friend). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Hawkmaid’s friend’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Continuing prayers for his complete healing.
If your BF is Catholic, let him know he can ‘offer up’ the pain which can’t be helped for a special intention and with Jesus’ suffering. He should do everything to correct or medicate the pain according to his doctor’s instruction. But, for certain and unfortunately he’s still going to have some pain. Offering it up, well he would be utilizing it for something good.
He might know about this already and already be doing this. I try to remember that the unavoidable pain/suffering is useful.
But, if an ibuprofen can take the edge off, I take the ibuprofen.
