i pray for all those victims,that they find peace and comfort after what they have been put through…
 
Once again, the media makes a deliberate attempt to get the story wrong. After the diocese reported the abusive priest to the police,
"… what did the police and the D.A. do? They did nothing. "

And yet the documentary lambastes the diocese for doing nothing. The facts were available to the filmmaker, who ignored them, as did the New York Tmes.
 
I don’t diminish the terrible nature of the child abuse scandals in the Church. The fact is, they occured mostly among a certain cohort of priests, and mostly within a time period in the 1970’s. Anyone who reads the voluminous John Jay report, which is available online, can see that at a glance in reviewing some of the charts and graphs shown. None of that excuses the Church. But it is also wrong for the media to deliberately distort the story. Somehow I suspect that in the year 2070 the media will still be writing about these scandals as if they were current events. It will be added to the inquisition and the crusades as a staple of anti-Catholic lore, the more inaccurately reported, the better.
