My 130-page M.Sc. thesis is done! After two years of coursework and 8 months of researching and writing, it is all finished!

I completed it as a SAHM to my almost 20mo dd (with lots of help from her SAHD, of course )

congratulations I know how much hard work this represents. also, please note other moms in school or considering school, her timing, yes it can be done and may be easier than you think when kids are still little.

There was an old joke that if you swallow a toad the first thing each morning you can be sure nothing worse will happen to you that day.

I felt somewhat the same when I finished my thesis. If I could do that nI could meet any future challenge in life…

I have 2 months and 27 days left to finish mine. It’s due three days before Christmas. The end is in sight…

Can I share publicly? :o The topic is Water as Metaphor in the Literature of British Modernism: Heart of Darkness, The Waste Land, Ulysses, and To the Lighthouse. I’m sort of exploring the fluidity/fixity dichotomy, and its relation to the material/spiritual, masculine/feminine, reason/the unconscious, etc., in the thought and literature of the period.

Exactly! Babies sleep a lot, toddlers take naps, and small kids in general, even when awake, don’t need your full intellectual focus! How many moms can have a conversation or watch the news or keep one eye on the internet while giving very young children all the attention they need at that stage? So, yes, stuff like this sure can be done with small kids! 🙂 Good point, puzzleannie.

Oh, that’s why I couldn’t understand. My thesis was the most fun I’ve ever had. Yes, I’m a nerd. :o

When I had PPD and didn’t think I’d ever love anyone or anything again, when I couldn’t really pray or find joy or hope in anything this or the next world had to offer, I still found meaning in my work. :o
