Bragging rights?

For those who believe in OSAS and that they are saved, how did your life change when you realized you were saved? How did you know? Did you feel any different?
Was there a sense of pride associated with that since you picked out of millions and millions of people?
Do you brag about being saved or do you keep it private unless you are asked?

I could have done without the definition as I am not completely stupid. I know what it means; I was asking you if you meant it in a condescending tone, cause that is how it came across. Next time I will do a better job of being explicit.

Protestants I know don’t boast as if they are above everyone else, as it seems you are asserting. Brag is associated quite often with arrogance, and if that is what you are inferring, then this question isn’t worth answering. If not, I would say we speak when necessary, i.e., we try to let our lives be the best example of Christ in us. If that is bragging to you consider me guilty.

I just don’t understand how humans, in general, can begin to know what God has decided, especially He’s all-knowing and all-powerful. How can we, as humans, begin to know what’s on His mind?
We all know that the Bible can be interpretted in MANY ways, just because of the nature of which it is written.
I guess I just don’t understand OSAS like the Protestants do.

Oops. Can’t help you there. My Protestant church does not subscribe to OSAS.

That seems to be the consensus of Catholics here of all Protestants. It’s a clear cut dicotomy so I would say that nobody is going to convince you of otherwise.

With you? No, it isn’t worth it. You have a goal and an agenda, when some of us just like to chat and learn from one another. What is the point with trying to “prove” something to someone who already has their mind made up, especially when that person’s goal is to just tell you how wrong you are? All you will do is refute them, and we will just spin in circles. I have done that on here before, and now I choose not to get into circular arguements. I have better things to do. A decent discussion is one thing, but a conversation with the purpose of telling someone they are wrong is pointless tome. That is not the sort of agenda I have. By the way, what is your agenda? I believe the fullness of truth is found in only one Church.

I believe Jesus wants us all to be united in faith in his Church, which I believe is the Catholic Church.

I think that’s fantastic that you are in the place you are now. Good for you. Having the desire you have is a great thing, but you won’t win many people over by inferring that they are pagans and tax collectors.

How is God’s mercy anything to boast of ??? What room could there possibly be for that ? God’s mercy is not a human achievement - it is an utterly undeserved free gift. It is not something one earns for being good, but something granted because one is desperate need of it because one is an enemy of God. There is no room here for any boasting of any kind whatever, but only for thanksgiving to God & for glorifying His Son. The idea that one can boast & brag because God has for His own gracious purposes saved damnable wretches from the eternal punishment they so richly deserve, is entirely misplaced .​

Or don’t people read St. Paul on God’s grace, mercy, predestination, election & good pleasure ? If it had pleased God to damn the entire human race that He might glorify His Son thereby, no-one would have any right to complain; no creature can have any rights against God - but in fact, it is His good pleasure to “save some”, even though they are as guilty as any others; sometimes, no doubt, more guilty. He it is, & not the elect, Who makes the difference between them & the reprobate: the elect differ from the reprobate only in being elect; for they are by nature no better than they. They are “acceptable to God through Jesus Christ”, & on no other basis - least of all their own deeds, since they are at enmity with God unless they are justified by the grace of Christ, Who is the One Mediator between God and man. There is absolutely nothing at all they can do to be pleasing to God, unless they come to Him through Christ. And they cannot do any of this by any power that is in them.

Why does He elect whom He does elect ? That is His secret, & it is not necessary for us to know, otherwise He would have made it known. It is enough that He elects righteously, holily, & that He is not answerable to man or any other creature. Election is not about how glorious the elect are - it sets forth how glorious God & Christ are. Man is dust and ashes & sin & evil - what has any man to boast of or to be proud about ? Nothing !!! God Alone is Great.
