=Wretched one;9305442]When Christ said that he did not want to give bread meant for his children to the dogs, I guess by dogs he meant sons of Satan or wicked people. What is the bread? If it is Word of God, then why do wicked people desire it? I thought they don’t like God and hence they don’t desire his word, law etc. It seems bread is some kind of power, which even wicked people desire. Please enlighten me.

The Dog’s are “Obstiante unbelievers”
The “BREAD” is the manifestitaion of Christ Himself through His WORD.
**Rom.9: 18 **“What then are we to say? Is there injustice on the part of God? Of course not! For he says to Moses: “I will show mercy to whom I will, I will take pity on whom I will.” So it depends not upon a person’s will or exertion, but upon God, who shows mercy. “
Heb. 3 12 “Take care, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end, while it is said, “Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
Rom. 9:15 “For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
Faith MUST come from God alone. While God obligates Himself to OFFER “sufficient grace” for everyone to know of Him [though His Created Universe] as well as His Words; it is AN OFFER; not a command. It requires mans cooperatioon with God’s Plan for our possible salvation.
As to "why do “wicked people desire it?”
The answer lies in OUR manner of Creation. Genesis 1:26-27 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them”
How we do this and WHY are Critical to our understanding the answer to your question.
How, is by man’s God-like Spiritual Gifts of Mind, Intellect and Freewill all attached to or Eternal Souls. Why is explained by Isaiah:
Isa.43 Verses 7and 21: “every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." AND the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.”
Every human person is offered “sufficient grace” to Know of God. But it can be rejected, only partially accepted or incorrectly applied. Thus EVERYONE can IF they cooperate with God come to undertand God’s plan for our salvation. THAT friend is the answer to your GREAT question
