I thought the same thing was happening in England, Canada and Australia?
The difference is that the Episcopal Church has formally amended their Canons to make that sort of thing normal. In other Provinces, it’s done, but not officially, universally, permitted. This makes the Episcopal Church the poster bad boy for the orthodox Provinces.

I doubt that this vote will do anything. As one person noted:
But Naughton expects no impact in the life of the Episcopal Church.
“We can accept these actions with grace and humility but the Episcopal Church is not going back,” Naughton said. “We can’t repent what is not sin.”
🤷

Heresy is not sin. That just shows how far the Episcopalians have fallen from Biblical truth.

Though the article gets the particular point right, the title is misleading. The Episcopal Church was not suspended from the Anglican Communion. Just sort of put on time out.
It is a start. They are suspended from communion as I understand it, for three years.

Suspended from meaningful participation anyway. While they don’t have a vote or serve as representatives, they maintain a “voice”. I presume that means they can still attend meetings and speak.

Another Protestant church that is further fractured. Will they ever reconcile wiht the Church?

" It is our unanimous desire to walk together. However given the seriousness of these matters we formally acknowledge this distance by requiring that for a period of three years The Episcopal Church no longer represent us on ecumenical and interfaith bodies, should not be appointed or elected to an internal standing committee and that while participating in the internal bodies of the Anglican Communion, they will not take part in decision making on any issues pertaining to doctrine or polity."

So, some definite limits on voting. Doesn’t say across the board, though.

ok. I thought SSM and gay bishops had been approved everywhere else in the Anglican communion except for the orthodox African provinces.
it seems a little hypocritical to me. I am happy the orthodox African provinces are standing their ground and not being bullied by the other churches.
thanks for your response GKC.

You are very welcome.

What’s the practical difference with this resolution? In the US and Canada, many Church of South India, and other sister Churches like Marthomas share space from the TEC and Anglican Church of Canada, including recognizing clergy mutually. What does this mean day to day - no more shared space and clergy invites?

not everyone in the Episcopal church is happy with the path their church has taken so you may have animosity for the church, but you should feel bad for those Christians holding out and still attending hoping by some miracle their church they grew up in will reverse their misguided ways and they can stay. for conservative Episcopalians this has been heartbreaking.
Yes and they can come HOME via the Anglican Ordinariate. 👍

I am hoping the snow ball keeps rolling until all the Anglican communion come home to Rome.

No. It involves what is said in the para I quoted just above.

They could merge with ELCA Lutherans. TEC and ELCA already are in communion with one another.
God help the member of both branches of these churches whose voices have been silented when this merger takes place and I GUARANTEE you this merger will happen. 😦

I understand your desire, but I was referring to another snowball, if you had that one in mind.
