You are nursing a 15 mo? When a child gets to be that age, I am wondering who is liking it more…you or the child.I think I can help explain this, as I do nurse a 15 mo at Mass…

How nice you noticed my signature…maybe you will like my new one too.I find it ironic that the originator of this thread has this quote in her signature
*“The greatness and moral progress of a nation can be judged by how its animals are treated.”
Mahatma Gandhi *
What about encouraging compassionate treatment of human babies? You should be glad that they are getting the milk of human kindness by a loving mother. I’m so happy whenever I see a wee babe suckling at the breast. There’s nothing like new life, innocent and helpless, being tended to by a woman in the fullness of womanhood. That woman is mirroring our mother in Heaven, the Virgin of Virgins. Our Church is prolife, and we should be encouraging parents in everyway, not condemning and being shocked at mothers suckling their babes.
Many old paintings of the Madonna show her suckling baby Jesus. That’s because it’s a beautiful sight.
Not everyone can use a bottle. My son won’t take a bottle at all now, he screams his head off because he wants the breast. I guess I could try to train him now that he’s six months old for the purpose of feeding him in public if I have to, but I really don’t feel like it should be such a huge problem for others to see such a thing as a woman breastfeed a baby. Not only that, I feel it’s extremely rude for someone to gawk at a woman who is breastfeeding her baby.Winters are cold here too and my children never went hungry and No I didn’t breast feed them in public. I never sat in a BR stall nor a cold car…I used a supplemental bottle when we had to be out and I breast fed in private…certainly would have never thought about doing it in church.…which leads me to believe that some might be exhibitionists (incognito)

Are you insinuating an impure motive here? You are nursing a 15 mo? When a child gets to be that age, I am wondering who is liking it more…you or the child.

That is uncalled for and rude. You are nursing a 15 mo? When a child gets to be that age, I am wondering who is liking it more…you or the child.

MY children wouldn’t take bottles or pacifiers. So, I am uncertain how I am supposed to have given them a supplemental bottle.Winters are cold here too and my children never went hungry and No I didn’t breast feed them in public. It is people like this EXACTLY that are oversexualizing nursing!!!
Thank you for proving my point, blyssful.
Oh, my goodness!!
Nursing = nutrition. You ARE aware that some moms even nurse to age 2, 3, and beyond, much for emotional nourishment of the child, correct??
Anyone who thinks a nursing mom is getting sexual gratrification from her nursing infant or TODDLER is really disturbed.![]()
Dont be upset Kim, her remarks were rotten and uncalled for. It is people with those mentalities that make good nursing mothers look like sexual objects.I totally agree with you! What is wrong with people. You said what I was to upset to write

Your profile says that you are almost my mom’s age so perhaps this is a generational thing. Women of my mom’s generation were not encouraged to breastfeed like women today are, or even women of generations before.

How nice of you to go to the trouble of looking up my profile.
Sorry, but I feel…IMO…that anyone who breast feeds the child to 15-19 months of age…is doing it for MORE than just the convenience etc.

It isn’t rude at all…but an observation. That is uncalled for and rude.
Would you mind just keeping those kind of thoughts inside the privacy of your own head? Some things are just not meant for the whole world to know.Sorry, but I feel…IMO…that anyone who breast feeds the child to 15-19 months of age…is doing it for MORE than just the convenience etc.![]()

I am not taking anyone’s side on this, but just to give another point of view. When I first read Blyss’s statement, it never occurred to me that she was referring to sexual enjoyment. It wasn’t until I read the replies to her comment that then I realized the possibility. All I can say is![]()
