Breathing

Breathing is something most people take as automatic,
But for some, breathing is difficult and can be traumatic.
Some breathing is raspy, some labored, some really fast,
Some frantic and some trying to make each breath last.

Some people when they breathe suffer from an oxygen lack,
And have to breathe additional oxygen to make up the slack.
Others have problems exhaling carbon dioxide from their body.
Many other breathing problems exist that we do not easily see.

The fortunate many who breathe without problems each day
How often do they consider the gift that has come their way?
How valuable is it to breathe easily and without any pain at all?
Do they ever consider the giver of this gift and are thankful?

Our lives are numbered and every breath we take is precious,
Do we consider the giver of life and are we properly gracious?
Each breath we take is a precious gift from our Heavenly Father,
So we should be thankful to God every time we take another.

COPD is not fun. Pray for the afflicted. Thank you for this poem! 👍

Nice work.

Some of us fail to appreciate the Breath of Life until it is choked from our bodies.

…you are one with Jesus as the body is one with the head. You must then have one breath, with Him, one soul, one life, one will, one heart; and He must be your breath, heart, life, love, your all. These great gifts in the followers of Christ originate from Baptism. They are increased and strengthened through Confirmation and by making good use of other graces that are given by God. Through the holy Eucharist they are brought to perfection.
