Hi all:
I’m new to the traditional Breviarium Romanum and have a 1962 one, so I’m excited. I need help understanding how to pray Matins! First, I’m confused. Some of the lessons of Matins has a Gospel reading followed by a homily. Whenever that occurs, the Gospel is presented as a shortened form but there’s “et reqliqua” at the end. Do I just read what is presented in the breviary including the “et reliqua” and go right into the Homily?
I’ve seen this in Latin and English traditional breviaries and it confuses me. Then there are other occasions where the lesson is another biblical-only reading (i.e. reading from 1 Kings or whatnot) and it’s just a straight through read.
Please help me understand this. Thank you!
