I like the hold’em game. Probably the only other one I would do with men, because it has the ick factor is the diaper candy bar game. In this game you melt different types of candy bars in disposable diapers, pass them around, and have people guess the candy bars. The one with the most right wins.

Not exactly the sort of game I would do. But thank you for your (name removed by moderator)ut!

I’m thinking of doing a Catholic themed memory game. A bunch of Catholic items on a tray to remember - rosary, chaplet, prayer book, a few holy cards, a crucifix, other similar stuff.

I like the “him or her” game, but we don’t know her fiance very well, so I would not have a way of getting questions about him without asking the bride, and she is far too busy right now to bother her with this.

I’ll keep thinking though, we still may not do anything. 🙂

Liza,

Sorry, my suggestions were more geared toward a baby shower, somehow I missed the fact that is a Bridal shower :o.

My daughter went to a Bridal Shower last night (all women though) and one of the things they did was as each guest entered they filled out an envelope with their name and address on them so the Bride and/or Groom could take care of the thank yous easier - they don’t know the addresses for everyone so really made it easier. I say make this into a raffle as well - put all filled out envelopes in a basket and have Bride or Groom pick one out, they are the winner of - a bottle of good beer or chocolate or beef jerky or…

The site I quoted though has ideas for Bridal Showers as well - you might be able to find some mixed group ones there.

Something super fun that we did at my bridal shower which I think would still work if there are men in attendance is:

Have the couple each write out a story about different occasions that they remember together. For instance, I wrote about our first date, when we got engaged, etc. Well, then you read out the first couple sentences (Don’t read the whole thing, but enough to start a story) and then you pass around a notecard and each person adds another sentence to the story. I still have my notecards from my shower and they still make me laugh soooo hard. After the notecard completes the circle, then you read the story out loud! People are sooo creative!!! Apparently, my now husband performed a belly dance for the Queen of England! lol!

I hate games. I would not have any.

Isn’t eating, visiting with each other, and watching the bride open gifts fun enough?

And, who said “bridal shower games” are fun??? UGH. I hate them.
Agree one hundred kajillion percent.

A couple of ideas…
give everyone an index card and have them write down advice for the couple. Couple picks what they think is the best advice and that person wins a prize.

Or, give everyone crayons and paper and, since no one knows what the bride’s dress will look like, have everyone draw what they THINK the bride will look like on her wedding day. Whichever picture the bride thinks would be closest, wins!

These are kind of fun, because you get really great answers and really great drawings that are fun to look at later, and people can be funny or serious or sweet in them. 🤷 I like them, but I’m a girl, so not sure how well they’d go over with the menfolk.

I love this idea!! This a group of very creative people - I think this could be VERY funny!!

I may think of how to do a variation of this…hmmm… 😉

Heh…I think it’s funny that so far on this thread, no men have proposed anything. This is not a coincidence…

As a man, I would have to say that the only one of these games that I would find remotely entertaining is the Bingo game. The rest of the games sound torturous.

I had to play the “scavenger hunt” game at a corporate function, and it was pretty agonizing. (For some reason, I was also the winner – maybe because I was playing quickly so the game would end as fast as possible?)

Another vote for NO GAMES.

Most women HATE those shower games, and men will not put up with them.

Don’t torture your guests.

Quizes about the couple are good…
Also a fun one is to give a questionnaire to the bride and groom about each other… and read the answers out loud… to see how much they know about each other… ALWAYS great for laughs! 😃
We did this for my sister and it was hilarious!

Do ALL your guests, men and women, a favor and skip the games. Most people are over this form of party entertainment by the time they are 10. Men HATE showers, so try and make it more like a regular social event/party and thus as painless as possible if they are attending.

How about something more age/sophistication appropriate. Have each guest couple bring a favorite bottle of wine or recipe–or–cookbook they enjoy using in their home. Perhaps the party could even be a pot-luck of these things. It doesn’t have to monopolize party time, but makes for a nice theme and a means to have both the men & women’s participation in personalizing the gift.

This is something fun for groups. Pick a couple teams and give each one a bag of assorted items.
Could be 3 to ? for each team. Depends on how many at the party

The goal will to pick one of the team mates (preferably a guy for this) and dress them up like a bride. Give them 10 minutes.

Each bag should have a few differant things.
We’ve included items such as toilet paper, tissue paper, artificial flowers, balloons, old shoes and anything crazy you have around. Anyone not on a team gets to vote. Have enough prizes for everyone on the winning team. Have some kind of crazy prizes for the good sports who lost.

Make sure you have a camera.

Back when I was married and expecting I had a co-ed shower…it was great…

There were no games…

It was a steak-on-the-grill event, and people mingled, we ate, opened gifts, and had a Christian music station on the radio. The men kind of hung out at the grill, and the women prepared stuff inside…

It was low key but very nice.
