Alright - yes, Abraham left his homeland and obeyed the Lord. Good point.
Now, I would again like to make a point.
We are justified by faith - a faith that works…a faith that takes up the cross to the point of even dying for our Lord. This faith begins at the gospel…
Romans 1:16 KJV 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
1 Peter 1:23 KJV 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1 Peter 1:25 KJV 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Once that faith is born in the elect, they will not fall away…
1 Corinthians 15:1-2 NAS95 1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
Mark 13:22 NAS95 22 for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect.
We are told in Hebrews 3:14 that we HAVE BECOME partakers with Christ is we hold our confidence to the end…endurance is not only a condition for salvation but also an evidence of genuine salvation.
Hebrews 3:14 NAS95 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,
Jesus said…
Luke 22:28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
Luke 22:31-32 KJV 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
Once this true faith is born in the elect, it will endure…and they will not come into condemnation…they are justified.
John 5:24 NAS95 24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
Yes - we are tested and found true though life…but once true faith is born, it is done. For those who fell in the wilderness, that was not so…
Hebrews 4:1-2 KJV 1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
BUT…
Hebrews 4:3 KJV 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
And, again…we are shown as HAVING BEEN justified…
One more point…Peter was chosen and had the prayers of Christ…Judas was not…
John 13:17-19 KJV 17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. 18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: *but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. *19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.
I site scriptures above showing how Jesus prayed for Peter…he was of the elect. Judas was not. Once the elect come to salvation, their faith will continue through any trial. And they ***have been ***justified.
John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
