Serve wine, cheese, grapes etc. for the meetings. Eating together puts people at ease. Have some relaxing background music.

For the first meeting, it’s better if no clergy are present. Expect some heated comments and anger from some and crying. Be prepared to listen, empathize and apologize as is helpful. Some will need that in order to heal and feel welcome again.

Just refer to them as Revenants… the returning.
The thing I have a problem with is the mentality that causes someone to use antagonistic terms like “fallen” or “lapsed”. If you think of people in terms of words like that, they are going to pick up on it, whether you say it to their face or behind their backs. It just doesn’t seem very Christ-like to me, and the one thing that will bring people into the Church is Christ, as evident in the everyday lives of each of us, His followers. If we are living up to that high standard, or at least try our very darndest to do so, no “campaign” is going to convince anyone, especially in the long term.

Well, we obviously can improve on that. Good suggestion.

Bringing back Catholics is a good thing. Doing it can fall short. Any help and suggestion from people who see this need is always welcome.

Maybe try to avoid names altogether as far as possible. You could end up with a very diverse group at all different places with their lives and faith.
