Bringing pen/paper into confession

After confession the priests gives you a pennace, are you allowed to bring in a pen so you can write down what the pennace is so you don’t forget?. I have bad memory and tend to forget within 5 seconds or so. So i thought it’d be safe to write it down just so i remember, i notice alot of people don’t do this and i’m thinking " how do you remember the pennace the priest has given you?"

I do the penance as soon as I leave the confessional. But of course you can bring a pen and paper and write it down if you need to.

Absolutely fine! If it helps you ensure you complete your penance more accurately and fully, then by all means!

I can’t remember the last time I went to confession WITHOUT pen and paper.

I’ve never had penance that required a lot of remembering, but it doesn’t hurt. Do what you feel comfortable doing.

I go in with a paper listing my sins so I don’t forget any!
