I wonder if it is allowed for me to bring my rosary and bible on to the plane? Will they confiscate these items during immigration check because it might make a beeping sound at the scanning doorway? I do not want to loose them because they are the only ones I have and I might want to pray my rosary during my 1 hour travel.

Bibles are books, they don’t usually make anything beep.

Rosaries often contain some metal so they have to go through the machine just like your pocket change, but they generally don’t get confiscated. If you are worrried about losing a rosary when you travel then I’d recommend buying a super cheap plastic one just for travel, or you might even find such a cheap rosary for free at some church. But really a lot of us travel with rosaries all the time and no problem.

So unless you are going to some country where Christian religion is frowned upon you should not have an issue with your rosary or Bible being confiscated.

Good idea. I will buy a cheaper rosary. Although I could just use my fingers but sometimes I lost count.

I have flown with a rosary many times, even with metal. I have never had any issue with it. (Talking about in America, if you live in some countries that could be different) I just take it out of my pocket and place it in the tray like your wallet or keys.

They are looking for weapons and chemicals that could create explosives. Unless you have some crazy big pointed rosary that could be used as a weapon there shouldn’t be an issue.

There are also virtual Rosaries you can use online if you do not wish to bring your Rosaries overseas

The only time security has looked at my books were when I left Tel Aviv airport in Israel. Hymnbook and Bible. Security checks for going there and leaving are simply said “thorough” to say the least.

Haven’t had any problems with a rosary or jewellery like a cross when put in my bag for the scanning.

Travelled within the EU, apart from Israel, during the past 5 years so.

You can always download a bible app onto your phone. This would reduce the weight of your bag.

The only time I have been asked to show what books I have been carrying was at LAX last September. It was the 9th September so I think they were being extra careful.

I’ve never had problems taking a rosary through to a flight, either US or international. I don’t remember taking a bible but I have taken many other books with no problems at all.

I don’t know why this would be a problem unless you’re flying into a country where Christianity is forbidden/frowned on/severely regulated. You can google recommendations for Christians visiting such a country.

I have a rosary in my purse at all times. I travel regularly, but also go through metal detectors and xrays at one of the courthouses I attend. Never had an issue with it. I wouldn’t keep it in my pocket though.

Just a tip for your upcoming travel. In the last few years, i’ve traveled a little bit more than usual, so I kind of got the hang of packing and being efficient and all that.

Before you reach the security section where you have the conveyor belt to play your stuff, I suggest that you empty out your pockets and put those items into your bag.

That way, you don’t have to place those items separately in the trays.

I have seen people who empty out their pockets there at the conveyor belt, placing their wallet, cellphone, belt, etc. into the trays.

Sometimes when these come out through the belt, people get confused, and they forget their things because they are all over the place.

It’s best to consolidate them into your one bag beforehand. You can put them into their individual places [like your pants pockets] once you are through with the security section.

I flew cross country a few months ago. Took my rosary and my Bible. No problems at all.

I’ve flown multiple times with rosaries and worse and have never had anything confiscated. You’ll be fine.

I don’t know why a rosary would raise a problem that jewelry wouldn’t or a Bible would raise problems that any other book wouldn’t. For instance, you cannot bring a crucifix into Saudi Arabia, but you can’t bring gemstones or jewelry in, either. Excepting very restrictive places like that, you’re going to be able to bring a Bible and rosary for personal use without any problem.

I got off a flight less than 6 hours ago. Place your rosary in the tray and run it through without fear! The bible? Don’t even worry about it. My Confraternity New Testament looks just like a book under the scanner.

Look at the website of the airport you are arriving to. Either it should say what you are allowed to bring into the country or have a link to an official government site that deals with these things.

Make sure your rosary is made of plastic or metal as some countries don’t accept items made of wood due to their special fauna and deceases.

I’ve never had a problem with either my rosary or Bible. I always carry a rosary with me in my pass case next to my cell phone. These are items that are checked by airport security.
I think that even countries like Saudi Arabia allow one personal Bible. The concern of anti-Christian countries is more about evangelization than personal belief.
If you wear a rosary under your clothing, it might show as you go through the x-ray scanner. It won’t cause any problems.
