British General Election

[Cerys]

Please remember to pray for the UK over the next few days. You probably already know we are going to the polls on Thursday, to elect a new government. Please pray that it will be the right one for us, and also for the rest of the world.

Thanks Cerys

O great saint George:

Intercede for us, o protector of the English, as we around the world pray for a successful election in Great Britain. May whoever wins, Brown, Cameron or Clegg, govern with wisdom and justice, and may all who are elected to Parliament search their hearts to do God’s will as they go about the business of governing the United Kingdom.
Pray with us to the Lord, O Saint George, that mediocrity, corruption and bad governance may be driven away from the polls and that temperance, courage, justice and wisdom prevail, as you banished the dragon with your holy lance.
We ask this humbly in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with his father, God Almighty, and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses

but deliver us from evil.

O God, from whom all power comes,
by whose Divine will all must abide,
we thank You for our civil liberties and freedom,
for our opportunities and our privileges.
We beg of You to bless, assist,
and enlighten the newly elected officials
May they prove worthy of the confidence placed in them
by their fellow citizens.
May they be just and upright in their thinking,
honest in all their actions,
and ever be guided by a true conscience in the
legislation they propose or vote upon.
Forgive us all our mistakes and selfish tendencies,
and help prepare us by our good deeds
for an eternal union with You,
through Christ our Lord.
Amen
