Britney Spears victimized by Twitter hoax claiming she had died

Doesn’t seem to me that such a thing “victimized” her so much as brought her into the spotlight… All media exposure is good media exposure.
 
Celebrity death hoaxes are common on social media. When Morgan Freeman finally does die, a lot of people will be triple-checking CNN just to be sure it’s not another hoax.

Which part? That Spears wasn’t victimized, or that all media is good media?

The former part I do believe, since ultimately Spears suffered no consequences from this event.

The latter part is an expression. What I mean is this: for people who live off of the public spotlight, whose careers rely on public attention, they benefit whenever they are covered in the media, because it reminds the public of them.

Even critical media often benefits people, because viewers are nearly as likely to disagree with the news’ critical assessment as to agree with it. It’s publicity either way, which is a good thing.

Just look at Donald Trump: case in point.
