Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if broadcasted Eucharistic Adoration (eg. YouTube) is valid as far as praying in front of the monitor?

Thanks.

Why not ,if there are elders at home having health issues or stay in a place, where regular Eucharistic Adoration is not possible ,i think its a good idea ,but it shouldn’t be out of laziness or lame excuse to attend one, when time and convenience is there, as its said in John 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.

You can adore God in any setting.
So if focusing on the image on the screen aids in contemplation, go for it!
I don’t know if it “counts” in the same way as on-location Eucharistic Adoration would, however.

I was wondering this myself, particularly in regards to the indulgence. I think bring is the actual presence is more effective and true to the spirit of adoration, but that’s just me. But hey, I’m sure it’s the thought that counts as well.

I wonder if there is a difference whether you are viewing a recording of an Adoration, or a real-time Perpetual Adoration live stream? Anyone have any insight on this?

This is an interesting idea.

Being in the physical presence of the Blessed Sacrament would be more efficacious than adoring the Blessed Sacrament via a live or recorded video stream.

At any time, we may call upon our Lord to visit and be with us in the same way that He is present in the tabernacle at your local church.

Being that God is outside of time, I would not see a difference between a live stream or pre-recorded stream of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

Watching the Eucharist on a screen is like having a conversation with a loved one over FaceTime or Skype. It’s a nice alternative if physical proximity isn’t possible but it’s obviously no substitute and doesn’t actually constitute “being in one’s presence”. I personally wouldn’t call that “Eucharistic Adoration” in the same sense as we typically mean it anymore than I would if I were to carry a photograph of the Eucharist in my wallet, or even close my eyes and envision the Eucharist.

Yes, I feel it is far better being in the physical presence of the Blessed Sacrament, than seeing video of it. Is it wrong to want to see the actual Eucharist, more than only seeing the tabernacle? I wonder about this. The church I go to has a 24 hour Adoration chapel which I recently was granted access to. I am very excited about it. The Eucharist is not exposed, however, which is totally understandable.

Any tips for feeling closer to the physical presence of Jesus while he is reposing in the taberbacle? Sadly I am a visual person with an imagination and attention span that tend to wander. I suspect that I need to find a way to connect internally somehow.
  • I forgot to mention that on First Fridays after mass, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for a very generous 8 hours. I take advantage of this as much as I can.

No, it’s not wrong. I am in agreement with you; I prefer a monstrance to a tabernacle but the worship is what’s important.

Good spiritual reading, rosary, and Sacred Scripture. I like to meditative on a crucifix or art/iconography that is near the tabernacle.
