i need advice, i don’t know what to do about his guy. I’m in love with him, he’s my first love, he’s hurt me though (not physically but emotionally). We have dated more than a few times, it’s like every time we date “he’s not ready for a relationship” but then i see him with some other girl. Its like, whoa!! he’s not a bad guy, like i feel wicked comfortable around him, like i’ve never felt that way around any guy that i like or have liked in the past…that’s pretty much it, i don’t know whatelse to say about the situation. just please i need advice wicked badly…HELP!

Hi Sarie,
I know how you feel. It’s upsetting. What I reccomend is giving yourself some girl-time to make yourself feel better. When I was depressed over a guy at the beginning of the year, I turned to prayer and it made all the difference. Try to pray that God will give you some guidance.

Shakespeare once wrote, “Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs.” It’s one thing to love, and another to be loved back. I suspect, though I don’t know your friend-boy at all, that when he says “I’m not ready for a relationship,” he’s really trying to say “I’m not ready for a relationship with you.” It’s painful to see someone your heart bleeds for in the arms of someone else, but this the sort of pain that just about everyone experiences at some point in their life. It’s like the chicken pox: we receive these inflictions when we are young so that they don’t appear as fulminating conditions when we’re older.

I’ve been in these sorts of situations enough to know when to apply the tourniquet to my heart and move on. Harboring jealousy in my heart has historically not served me well. If there’s little or no real hope for a relationship with this guy, then you would be best served to find someone else – or better yet to find yourself in the name of the Lord, per Jeanne’s excellent suggestion.

Best of luck to you! 👍

I am sorry that you are hurting right now, it won’t last forever. You deserve someone who loves you and will be faithful and loyal to you. Let him go and if he really cares for you, he will pursue you and stop the silliness of seeing others. It just sounds like he isn’t in any way ready for a serious relationship, so let him go and move on with your life. Focus on your relationship with Jesus and His will for your life. He will make things clear for you.
God bless you.

Sarie, that young man speaks the truth. He’s not ready for a relationship. One time you are with him, some other time some other girl and yet another girl at another time. That doesn’t quite strike me as ready for a relationship. So he isn’t lying and there’s little inconsistency in what he says.

Sometimes people we are interested in aren’t interest in us. That’s tough. It’s also bad when we aren’t interested in the people who are interested in us. Such lis life. Take some rest, be calm, collect yourself, don’t allow yourself to be thrown around by your emotions. Pray for some peace but don’t neglect your own part in it. One unready guy isn’t worth obsessing over.

I think it was Maya Angelou who said something to the effect that “women would save themselves a lot of heartache if they believe when someone showed them who they were the first time.” I think this young man is showing you very clearly who he is.
