I have read a brief synopsis of St. Simon Stock and OLOMCarmel. What are your thoughts? Anybody out there enrolled?? This devotion seems to pop up in my live every year and I don’t know how I feel about it. One of the sites said it was not necessarily historical…yet, I do know it is approved and a very good thing. I guess I would just like to know more about it and hear any of your experiences.
Thank you and God Be with you all

Peace

Yes I am enrolled in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It has made me far more conscious of my Marian devotion and my duty to pray the Rosary and have recourse to Mary. of course it is an outward sign of my consecration to Jesus Christ through Mary.

I am wrapped in the mantle of Mary. Yes Our Lady of Mount Carmel has obtained great graces for me and I would encourge enrolment in the Scapular only after much prayer and discernment.

Too many people wear it and have no idea why. Not their fault mind you, but it would be far better to wear it after valid enrolment when you know why you are wearing it.

most Catholic children of my generation were enrolled automatically as part of First Communion preparation. so yes it behooves us to find out more about the devotion and what the commitment means, but we can wear one at any time without any formal investiture because once is for a lifetime.

She means that since she was enrolled at First Communion, she will always be enrolled. She can always wear a brown scapular and be enrolled in it, even if it is a different one than the one she wore when she was first enrolled. 🙂

Doh! 😊

When I read it again it makes perfect sense with your explination. What was I thinking when I read it the first time?? I just don’t know. Apologies and thanks!!

I was enrolled, years ago… during preparation for First Holy Communion. But, like many people… I didn’t wear the Scapular. I just lost sight of it. Forgot about it, etc. I even lost my original Scapular.

But now… the Brown Scapular is a part of me, and I wear it every single day (and night; I only remove it, for bathing). Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, reached out to me. And through this devotion… I returned to the Catholic Church. So, in a way… the Brown Scapular saved my life.

This link may be helpful to you. God bless. 🙂
