I have been enrolled in the Brown Scapular for almost 8 years. I take it off when I bathe and swim. I also wear a chain with a Miraculous Medal, the Cross I recieved from my grandmother on my Confirmation and a Scauplar Medal so when I do take off my cloth scapular, the medal suffices until I put the cloth back on.
Some of you make take issue with this, but I usually take the cloth scapular off when going to bed simply because I don’t want to get the cloth scapular tangled up and/or uncomfortably tangled on my neck. It stays right on the bed side table next to me and I sleep with the scapular medal etc on. It also lasts longer if I take a little extra care with it.
I think if you use the scapular medal in this fashion then you avoid the problems of trying to ‘hide’ the fact that you wear a scapular. I use it for what I consider practical occasions.
