Bruce is having major surgery 6/10

Tomorrow, my Brother-in-Law Bruce is have major surgery again. This past year and a half has been overwhelming for him. He has undergone so many crazy medical problems.

First he had a bullet fragment (From Vietnam) removed from his knee.

Two weeks later, he threw a blood clot and went into cardiac arrest. (God healed him)

He was hospitalized for a month. During that time he started having rectal bleeding and had some polups removed. They wanted to see him back in 6 months.

When he went in for his 6 months check-up, they found colon cancer. In January he underwent a colostomy followed by chemo and radiation. Lost down to 110 lbs.

He got the all clear and they reversed the colonostomy in April. His weight was up to 137 lbs.

Then he got “Thrush” which is a fungal infection in the mouth. Probably from the antibiotics and such. So, he was sent to an ENT.

The ENT detected 3 lumps under his tongue and ordered a biopsy. It came back positive for cancer.

Tomorrow, Bruce will be in Kansas City having a “Radical Jaw Resection”. He will have at least 50% of his Jaw removed, maybe more.

He will be undergoing this surgery alone. I cannot be there for him, and his Mother lives in Missouri and does not drive. His ex-wife can’t bring his only child (17) because she really needs the income from work.

Please pray for him. Pray for his “Mental” healing. Pray for him not to experience anxiety and loneliness. Pray for his doctors. Pray for his mother and his son.

I’m really afraid that he will not make it through this one. He has lost down to 100 lbs. as of last week, and they put in a feeding tube.

Jesus, do not allow Bruce to be alone. Please be powerfully present to him. Mother Mary, be mother to him in his illness and in all he endures. Holy Spirit, please help him displace the pain of his surgery, and bless him with Your inspirations and love.

God. Your beloved child Bruce needs your gift of Healing and health. Please, God, please heal Bruce and restore his health. He has suffered so much. Please surround him and his family and friends with the power of the Holy Spirit to let them know they are not abandoned or alone…let them feel Your presence and guide the drs. and nurses that care for Bruce …please give the drs and nurses the necessary skills and knowledge to help Bruce one more time. Please if it be Your will, hear our prayers and help this man who has given so much …for his country…for his family…and for you.
 
Dear Jesus, with Your all powerful healing hand, touch Bruce that all of his afflictions be remedied now and for his whole life. Draw him into Your eternal banquet of joy. Mary, pray with us. Amen. :gopray2:
 
Well, 12 hours later and he is still in surgery. According to the surgical nurses, he is doing well. They are doing the reconstruction of his Jaw right now. They removed the lymph nodes in his neck, Large portions of the lower Jaw. All of his lower teeth, a large portion of his tongue, and much, much more.

Please keep praying, they expect him to be in surgery for at least two more hours.
 
I am praying that he will make a full recovery and that after the surgery he will not develop any more medical problems. I will keep him in my intentions especially when I pray the rosary.
 
As I write this I know Bruce is in surgery. God, please guide the drs and the nurses and Bruce’s care team. Give them the wisdom and knowledge and skills to do the procedure and surround Bruce with the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Please, God, help Bruce by holding him close to Your heart and hold his family in your arms. Give them freedom from the anxiety they must be feeling and please, God, restore Bruce to good health and good spirits.
 
Praying for Bruce. May he experience the special loving care of the Father and feel the warm and sweet presence of Mary so he does not feel lonesome or anxious but full of peace and hope.

Well, 14 hours, Bruce is out of surgery. Here is the scoop…

They removed his lower 50% of his lower jaw (the Chin area) and the muscles under the tongue. A large section of his throat was also removed.

They used veins, muscle, and bone from his arm to replace what was removed.

They told us that he weighed about 85 lbs. He will have a trach with a ventilator for quite a few days. The trach may remain for a while.

He has a nurse at his bedside and they are giving him blood. They are also monitoring to make sure he is getting adequate blood flow to the new construction.

He will have to undergo chemo and radiation again…

Wow, Bruce has had to suffer much in such a short period of time. Im in awe, in his courage to push forward with all these set backs. I question myself if I would go ahead if faced with similiar situation, I guess Im weak minded. May I ask how old Bruce is?

My deep prayers are with Bruce.
