this topic was named bible and killing unbelievers but christians wanna talk about buddhism so i will open anew thread about bible and killing non-believers 🙂

All religions are connected. In the end it is the same God, just differnt ways of worshipping him. If we are to kill non believers, then I’m leaving CHristianity and forming my own version of it right now,

but Buddhists worship Buddhist, don’t they?

Buddhists don’t think Buddha is divine, just a very ‘enlightened’ human, so in that sense no they don’t worship him.

Buddhists worship God, or the divine, as they call it. The Buddha is not worshipped, onyl respected. He attained a high level of consciousness and a person who has attained that level is called a buddha. But what does that have to do with anythign being discussed here at the moment?

of course it does, because you said:

But by what I saw, people are worshipping Buddha, they don’t know there is any god, not to mention true God, other than those Buddhas.

i wanna discuss that topic ,do you think that bible orders to kill non-believers:)
The Israelites in the Old Testament were either advised or passively permitted by God to take by force and conquest the land He promised to them. We believe that Jesus Christ taught a more highly evolved and perfected form of religion than the Jews of Moses’ time could live up to, one in which violence by Christians plays no part. Mind you, not all Christians live up to this either. But the example of his earliest followers, all of whom chose to peacefully resist and die for their faith rather than violently rebelling or killing others, shows that the truly Christian way is a peaceful one.

Jesus’ words that do refer to violence (ie ‘I came not to bring peace’) are NOT permitting or ordering us to BE violent, rather they are acknowledging the fact that his preaching was divisive, even though Jesus neither wanted nor intended it to be.

Certainly the example the Gospels show that his actions were at the opposite extreme - he healed the one and only soldier who was attacked by his follower, did not rebel against the violence that was done to him at his arrest and trial, did not rebel against carrying His heavy cross (whether or not you believe He was actually crucified)

If you look at the original poster of this, he is muslim, not christian.

BUDDHISTS DO NOT WORSHIP THE BUDDHA! It’s a shame if you see peopel to doing this. That is not what Buddha or God taught us.

Well, that’s what I saw. I haven’t seen a buddists worshiping God.
I live in Japan and my husband is Buddhist. I must know several hundred Buddhists and have seen thousands at temples we have visited. I have yet to meet a Buddhist that worships Buddha or thinks he is God. Just because they light candles and bow before his statue does not mean they are worshiping him. This is a sign of respect not worship.

that’s good. However, have you seen a Buddhist worshiping God? or does your husband worship God? and how he does it? What is the teaching of Buddha about God?

Hmmmm, I’ve been to Catholic churches and see people do the same thing before Mary and the Saints…that’s the same thing they say…“respect not worship.”

Are you clear on this then?
If people say they don’t worship Buddhist, then that is good. I believe them.

My next question was - Whom do Buddhists worship? - I never see or heard that they worship God. … or they don’t believe in God at all?

I’m clear on it. There are Buddhists in my Monthly Meeting. While the “Divine” is qualified in Christianity and other monthesistic faiths…in Buddhism the…“Eternal”…“Divine”…“Light beyond Limitless Light” is a…“given”. Life is connected to the Eternal…Buddhism is a practical philosophy of living…many Buddhists find un-programmed Friend’s worship experiences very compatible.

I went to an Interfaith retreat. Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims to name a few. The “clerics” tended to congregate in one room and the “mystics”, monks and nuns in another. The “clerics” debated the nature of God…those of us who met with the mystics tended to move into a “worship experience”…prayer, meditation and just “being” with one another…when the retreat was over, the ‘mystics’ hugged each other and had a difficult time in leaving…many of us kept in touch…the “clerics” who “debated” God…shook hands and departed…I knew which group I would go with should I attend an Interfaith group again…those who “experienced the Divine” instead of those who “debated the Divine.”

I am quoting above post to say why worshiping God is part of this discussion. The poster, blacktiger, believes that we all are connected and we are all worshiping the same God …though in different way. Because of this, I wanted to find out if Buddists believed in God.

In every daily life, we all somehow interact with each other but some might not see it. We keep in touch with each others through our prayers. Though I never know you or meet you in person, my prayer is for you…for those whom I wish they know the Truth which I am given to.

I love the passage by Paul that says in Ephesians 3

"14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God."

I have found a faith that has brough rich meaning to my life…and it is that connection to those who seek to know the Eternal that causes me sometimes to stand back in awe at the depth of His love for humanity…sometimes we don’t see eye to eye with one another, but we can all feel secure in “the Everlasting Arms”…
