You know whats interesting about this though–is how almost all religions show some appreciation towards animals–there is a degree of sacredness associated with animals.

There is a hadith where a women who was a prostitute is shown mercy and has her sins wiped away when she retrieves water from a well in order to stop a dog from being thirsty.

One of the seven laws of the Noahides (Judaism for non Jews) is about animals. it prohibits the eating of an animals limb while it is still alive. There are other parts of the Talmud that show a deep appreciation for animals as well.

In hinduism the Cow is revered.

In Jainism all living entities are given the highest respect.
 
Years ago my Catholic aunt trained her Boston Terrier, Butch, to appear to be saying his prayers just like this. Smart dog, but wasn’t really praying. I have a chihuahua thay plays dead on command.

I think it is improper to make comments of the picture, let alone to post it in this forum. Although the Buddhist may not feel offended, we should imagine if somebody trained a dog to make a cross sign, and make fun of us. I will not be offended either, but someone might.
 
Buddhists don’t care if people make fun of us. We tell jokes all the time.

Why would I be offended if someone could teach a dog to make the sign or the cross? I would think that it was cute.

The monks must have agreed to the pictures themselves. I would imagine, that like us, they find the dog to be sweet and the pictures amusing.🤷

It doesn’t appear that the monks think that he is actually praying either. It sounds as if they merely think that he is cute and has learned a interesting trick.
 
Buddhists have a very good sense of humor, which is thought to be a virtue and very much cultivated in Buddhism. Ditto among the Navajo, who pun all the time in their labyrinthine language.

I think that it is very hard to offend a Buddhist.
