Buddhists, What happens when the 14th Dalai Lama dies?

I’m curious when the 14th Dalai Lama passes on will there be a 15th? Just curious

I think he said either that or he would not return as the Dalai Lama. The Panchen lama who is supposed to seek him out disappeared several years ago.

It’s my understanding that because of mischievous interference by the Chinese government, the cycle has sort of been broken because the child chosen to succeed the Dalai Lama was taken into Chinese custody and no one knows what has happened to him.

So, it’s sort of screwed everything up.
