Yes, it is a good day for Buffalo.
Hopefully now, the healing process can begin for many.

“Finally!” was my exact exclamation when I read the title of the thread. 😂

As a layman in the Buffalo diocese, I ask that you all continue to pray for us, our clergy, religious, and all those who have had to suffer the pains of abuse and molestation. Despite the horrible things in the news, there are many wonderful priests and religious here. I’m looking forward to what the Bishop of Albany will do for us. Looking at his past statements, it seems like he doesn’t mess around with abuse accusations. Plus, any bishop who personally celebrates the Extraordinary Form gains points in my book.

As I think I mentioned before, my mom’s family is from the Diocese of Buffalo and she grew up there (North Tonawanda). The church she and many of her family attended and where she got married unfortunately closed years ago. In her things I have a huge anniversary plate from that church, with a picture of the church, that I don’t know what to do with but won’t get rid of because I know it was important to Mom.

I am glad she was not alive to see or hear about this business, but I know there are a lot of good people and good Catholics in the Diocese of Buffalo as my mother’s whole family were good people and I don’t remember any family stories about priests behaving badly. I will pray that this diocese now gets back on track with better administration.
