I’m having issues again with my phobia of bugs. I know it’s silly but I still have this sustained fear that I’ll come back to my apartment and they will be everywhere in the bathroom when I get back. To make a long story short I’ve always had a minor phobia about bugs. When I’m stressed out it gets to be a problem and it usually occurs along side a bug infestation. I’ve got all these little black bugs in my bathroom…I think they are springtails. Anyway I’ve put down some boric acid and had the apartment sprayed a few weeks ago but they don’t seem to die. They also keep showing up in ever greater numbers. Ok I know this is silly but it’s really annoying me. I’m leaving over the weekend for a few days and won’t be there to kill them so I’m getting stressed out about that. 🤷 I think some of this comes down to not being able to control the problem and I like to solve a problem and check it off my list. The good news is the exterminator is supposed to come tuesday morning to spray again. 👍

Normal bugs don’t bother me. I find them an annoyance sometimes, but that’s about it. Spiders, on the other hand, I firmly believe are all involved in a plot to wipe humans off the face of the earth. 🙂

Since you’re going to be gone, could you use some kind of fogger bug stuff?

I’m not a big bug person and when I lived in my apartment, I had an issue with silverfish. After I’d see one, I’d be paranoid and jump at every moving shadow and when I’d go into a different room, I’d tiptoe in. Even thinking about it now almost 10 years later gives me the heebie jeebies. :o

I hope you can get rid of them somehow! :hug1:

The bugs for the most part are harmless. The poisens from the exterminator are bad news. You probably wouldn’t want to come to my house. I have spiders all over the place (some pretty big and ugly ones too) but I don’t mind them being there. I think they help to control the other bugs. But I wish you luck in solving your bug problems.

Now this may sound ditsy, but I found it some home remedy magazine…and it worked and it’s non-toxic. Sprinkle everywhere liberally, not just a little bit. Put if wherever you see the bugs…BABY POWDER. Not the other stuff, just plain old baby powder, for some reason, it won’t kill them, but they just don’t like it and they leave. It’s like making their environment unhabitable. It works with ants particularly but it probably will work with your other bugs that crawl. Not good for flying things, but definitely crawlies. Try it.

Thanks everyone. I arrived back this morning and didn’t find them everywhere as I expected…this was a silly fear anyway but a fear none the less. The exterminator sprayed this morning and hopefully that will do the trick. I’m overreacting a bit I know but I had a major infestation of silverfish a year ago that caused me to have to move an expense I can’t afford to duplicate right now. I also still have a years lease so I’m kink of stuck there. Anyway I’m feeling better but still worried. I believe that this is all related to anxiety issues I have to deal with. Not just one thing but a number of things and anytime I get stressed out this phobia blooms. 🤷 Just say a prayer for me. Thanks.

hi sierrah–my fellow bug phobic.:hug3: I too get scared when I see spiders especially. 😦 They are so small, yet so intimidating.

I will pray for you. I have often thought of going to like a petting farm, but for bugs. lol Maybe holding a tarantula or something:eek: would get me past the fear of larger bugs. It’s larger ones I am fearful of.

Spiders don’t bother me I just kill them. It’s the ones that crawl around and cluster … 😃

what exactly clusters…like ants? or like earwigs? oh, those are gross too.:ouch:

we had one in our master bedroom last night…yuck!😦

You have my sympathies. I hope the last exterminator visit did the trick and you’re bug free for awhile. What is a springtail?

Our house is old and surrounded by grass, trees, birds, animals, and bugs. Every year, we have a new infestation of some kind. One year it was silverfish, then those tiny ants, then spiders, then carpenter ants, then yellow jackets (I’d kill about 5-10 in the basement every day), moths, the most recent was the brown stinkbugs. They’re the worst - they’re really ugly, big, and they stink - even the cats won’t go near them. They get in the house in the early fall and hibernate in the walls or any crevice. In the spring, they wake up and fly around trying to get out of the house. You hear them buzz past you and smack into the window. The other year, I wouldn’t go into the living room by myself for almost two months.

Bugs freak me out, too. The only good bug is a dead bug (ladybugs, butterflies, and dragonflies excepted).

We had BEES in our bedroom!

Praying for your bugs to VANISH.

These are springtails. They jump like fleas but don’t live on animals. They tend to live in bathrooms and kitchens like silverfish (water bugs) but cluster in large groups so when you see one there’s usually more around. I’ve had an ongoing toilet leak that I think caused the problem but the landlord took a year to fix the leak. Hopefully they will go away this winter. They are just nasty little things. Even though I’ve sprayed I found another one this morning. yuck. 🤷

I hear ya.😦

I literally feel heart palpitations when I see certain bugs, like larger spiders…or palmettos here in Florida.

I’d rather take on a snake or alligator, than a spider. As crazy as that sounds, my reactions are better when I have seen alligators nearby in lakes, or snakes wiggling in the grass. I freak when I see spiders though…thankfully my hubby is around to deal with them. My dd said something so cute the other day…she said…‘I’d hate to be an ugly bug like a spider, because everyone wants to kill you.’
:o
