I just finished the Book of Exodus and am totally amazed that the Israelites had access to all the materials necessary to build the Ark while in the middle of nowhere. Of course, God provided the materials, direction and skilled laborers.
An example of God’s in charge not man.

Remember that the Israelite did bring with them a huge treasure when they left the land of Egypt.
The event of the golden calf they fashioned out of gold when they were at the base of Mount Sinai waiting on Moses who had ascended to the top to receive the 10 commandments from GOD, illustrate that they did possess gold. And God also provided food, water and meat when the requested it.

Peace!

I realize that. Please read Exodus’ chapters on building the Ark. I’m not sure what materials were available around Mt Sinai such as the building materials such as wood and nails. Really amazing story.

There are trees that grow in the Sinai Peninsula, and there would have been metalworkers available, and things taken with them.

Even though they had trees, metalworkers, and precious metal, and a lot of sand around for sand casting, it was still pretty impressive for them to build such an ark.

I thought the same of the description of them building the tent for God before they had a temple.

Glad to hear you thought it was impressive as well. God wanted it done and it was!
