I am one of those quiet people who isnt good at standing up to one person. I have been yelled at recently and always dont know what to say and end up crying. I have told the bosses, but they are this persons friend. I cant quit my job, I just want to say the right thing at the right time to that person so it will stop, and I can do my job. Thank you in advance for any support and also for any prayers God Bless and take care

Hi, Emily. We can’t give advice on the prayer board – just prayers. We’re happy to pray for you here. To get more in-depth visit forums.catholic-questions.org/forumdisplay.php?f=19.

Prayer of Protection: St. Patrick’s Breastplate

I bind to myself today - God’s Power to guide me, God’s Might to uphold me, God’s Wisdom to teach me, God’s Eye to watch over me God’s Ear to hear me,
God’s Word to give me speech, God’s Hand to guide me, God’s Way to lie before me, God’s Shield to shelter me, God’s Host to secure me,
Against the snares of demons, Against the seductions of vices, Against the lusts of nature,
Against everyone who meditates injury to me, Whether far or near, Whether few or with many.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ at my right, Christ at my left, Christ in the fort, Christ in the chariot seat, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
Amen.

Saint Michael Prayer

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the
wickedness and the snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray
and do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl throughout the world
seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen

I will pray for you, but please look for another job. These are not good bosses. They are bad bosses and you deserve better.

Hi. This is sad. I can empathise because it has happened to me. I ended up leaving but before I’d got another job! So line up some other work first. You have no reason to tell them of your plans if they are being horrible. There is normally though always someone higher up the chain to complain to. A boss normally has another boss and so it goes on. Either way, if you take it to the Lord He’ll guide you safe passage. God bless. 🙂

Why do people have to be so mean? I am so very sorry this is happening to you. Turn to our Lord and ask Him for comfort, strength, and guidance.

I had a little thought this morning when I woke up and was thinking about what you said. Nothing worse than waking up and having to go to a job you dread. If you are shy this can be a difficult thing to do so I’m not suggesting putting yourself under more stress. But have you spoken to this person? Sometimes being extremely direct can jolt people out of their seats - in private or around others. You probably know about arrow prayers. They’re prayers that one can say when in a difficult situation: “Jesus, help me”, or “God, rescue me”, or “Holy Spirit, be with us in this conversation”. “Jesus and Mary guide my words”, “God, help me”. You could pray to God that He gives you a chance to speak directly with this person. If you do or don’t set your mind on speaking with him, no matter, but the next time you are in the same area as this person you could pray arrow prayer’s powerful words in your heart. Also, the prayer of St. Patrick is good in the morning if you are worried:

“Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.”

May God bless you and protect you 🙂

Praying for you to be free from bullying and have peace at work.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy. Amen.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
thrust into hell satan and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee to we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray. Almighty and everlasting God, Who by the working of the Holy Spirit didst prepare both body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother, Mary, that she might deserve to be made a worthy dwelling for Thy Son, grant that we who rejoice in her memory, may, by her loving intercession, be delivered from present evils and from lasting death, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Holy Mother, please intercede for us.
Hold the sorrowful, strengthen the fearful,
give aid to all needing help or healing,
assist those who are sick, in pain or suffering,
be with those needing peace, console the lonely,
comfort the lost or hopeless, guard the unborn,
pray for those who are dying or who have died,
soften those with hardened hearts,
enlighten those who do not yet see truth,
help us be brave enough to let our hurt and anger go,
show us the way to do the right thing,
protect those who are in danger,
and guide us from every evil.
May all who keep your sacred commemoration
experience the might of your assistance.
Amen.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent, but with great confidence,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will,
which is love and mercy itself. Amen.

Welcome to the forum, Emily, sorry about the circumstances… I’ve been in a very similar situation for the past 18 months. What I can say is that it will get easier with time, and that this trial will help you grow in your faith. I strongly agree with Friardchips’ suggestion concerning prayer. I try to say at least a few decades of the Rosary on my way to and during work, when and if I can. Also, when things get particularly bad or I get in a potentially volatile situation with this person, I found it helps a lot to say St Michael the Archangel’s Prayer - it never fails to defuse the situation and avert disaster.

I don’t, however, agree that discussing the issue with this person will solve anything. I tried it several times and it solved precisely nothing, it only made me feel much worse. Keep communication to a minimum and only deal with that person if you absolutely have to. Pray for them instead.

May God bless you and keep you out of harm’s way.

I second this actually and absolutely take back the part about confrontation.

We can’t always and shouldn’t necessarily try mending other people; it’s true. But one can however remain polite without purposefully engaging. You could try putting everything in God’s hands: yourself, the situation, and as iohannes12 rightly said here, this person.

If this person is not a supervisor why not, calmly reply with the following:??? “I am sorry, but I could not understand what you said. You are talking so loudly it is hard to understand you.”

Or: “Hey, I am not hard of hearing you know.” You can speak in a lower tone of voice if you like." (And all the while smile ear to ear as if you had not a care in the world.)

No matter where you work you will run into people that think yelling makes them look smart, better or gets the point across. Find a reasonable way to redirect their approach to you by changing your reaction to them. Keep the tears for home, and take some time each day to figure out what you might say if the yelling fool starts in again.

You could even ask them if they are hard of hearing. You know----"Did you realize how loud you speak to others? That could be a sign of hearing loss. Have you had your hearing checked lately? This way you bring the yelling back to them, and shed it’s effect off from you.

Every hear of the saying: “Kill em with kindness.”???😛
