Does anybody else find it disgusting that Burger King is running a TV ad that promotes their kids meals with the theme “I Like Square Butts”? We are treated to sexy women shaking their square posteriors as the Burger King uses a tape measure to determine size. They even throw in Sponge Bob so the kiddies will not lose focus. And the finale features some rap artist profoundly stating “Booty is booty”.

Makes you want to go right out to Burger King doesn’t it?

Your post makes me glad I stopped watching TV 😉 But thanks for the heads up on their new advertising. I may start going to the little tacqiera for lunch & bypass b-king. The food is better there anyway 🙂

I saw that commercial and found it to be offensive. Maybe funny for a SNL sketch, but not for a KID’S MEAL, marketed to those “UNDER 10.” Give me a break.

Helly, McFly…Anybody home in there, Burger King? How much you paying your Ad execs?
🤷

Keep eating at Burger King, and you’re gonna have a square butt.
😃

I don’t see it as any more offensive than the tiny burgers ad where the bimbos in the push-up bras are fawning over this one guys tiny cute little burgers.

I agree…lowest common denominator.

Yeah, it’s pretty disgusting alright.

This seems to be a trend in a lot advertising now. There is currently an M&M’s candy commercial too… that I find questionable.

The green M&M (which is supposed to be a female) is being filmed, by a crew of all the other M&M’s (portrayed as males). And they are filming the green M&M in sexy, provacative locations… such as jumping up and down on a bed. Then the commercial pans over to the male M&M’s… which are supposed to be filming… almost like a porno movie… and they’re all standing there with their eyes popped open and their mouths hanging open, like they’re drooling.

It’s really a far cry from the OLD, OLD M&M commercials… “Melts in your mouth, not in your hand”. This “new” commercial has really turned me OFF of M&M’s… which I used to like. But now, I can’t dislodge the image of that commercial. YECH. :tsktsk:

And we wonder why the world is in such a mess. Little by little decency is being eroded because of money. What are we to expect? We’re getting exactly what we deserve.

just another example of the sexualization of our children. While it was never easy to filter out the garbage on tv, it just got worse for my family. Our cable comapny upgraded thier system and now at the higher channels there are text previews for “adult shows”. no way to block that as the actual content is not viewable until ordered, but the titles leave very little to the imagination. Seems like theres no escape from immorality.

I hear ya “b_ulmen”. I guess it will take a massive campaign of people CANCELING their cable and satellite services; massive boycotts of the offensive products, etc. to make them get the message. :sad_yes:

I haven’t bought Pepsi ever since I learned (from CAF forums) of their “gay agenda” advertising. We’re drinking Coke now. And if Coke starts something unacceptable, we’ll move on to whatever else is out there.

But no Burger King, no Pepsi and no M&M’s candy in our house. At least, until they clean up their act.

Having read both of your posts in this thread makes me wonder how many parents seriously take time today to watch Saturday morning cartoons with their toddlers. This kind of sexual innuendo is hideously placed in cartoon dialogue and is even making itself apparent in new Disney cartoons. Now for those out there growing up in the early to mid 1960’s to 1965 before they were ten years old. How many remember when the Flintstones was once slated as a cartoon for the adult audience on around 9:30 pm on a weekday night ? The biggest turning point for Television broadcast programming that changed public morals was the Rowan and Martin Laugh-in Comedy hour in the late 1960’s.

I have to admit when I first saw the Burger King ad, I chuckled at it. Then fox did a little evaluation on it and I thought, “Yea, this is pretty cheap”. But, like you say, we are so desensitized to cheap, dirty jokes we don’t even think about. I have found some of the Disney and other childrens movies to have these little sex jokes in them that I think are so unnecessary. Anyone notice the scene in Madagascar when the hippo, Gloria, gets out of the water after the sea wreck and she has three crabs on her private parts. And she says, “the parties over boys”. What was the point of that? I don’t know if my kids picked up on it and you hate to say anything because half the time they dont even notice.

It’s tiring.

Blessings,
Betty

Oh yes, parents of young kids and teens must be extremely vigilant of what their kids are watching on TV. And especially, the stations which have been promoted as “kid or family friendly”. This includes “Nickelodean”, “TVLand” and ALL of the “Disney” channels. I have seen extremely questionable programming and commercials, lately… on ALL of these.

When we first got cable… we were so thrilled with “TVLand” because they were showing all the old, good TV shows (I Love Lucy, Mr. Ed, etc.). Shows made before 1975. CLEAN shows.

But recently, good old reliable “TVLand” has started to wallow in every type of smarmy reality show they can come up with. I believe it started with the show… “She’s Got the Look”… which was kind of a modeling tryout for older ladies. And it has since moved on to… such “inspirational” offerings as “High School Reunion”… YECH. YECH. and YECH. :nope: Who CARES about all these people and their petty fights and insecurities. When did THAT become entertaining???

All I can say folks… is GET EWTN. They have GOOD programming for the kids during the “after school hours”; and on Saturday morning. Plus, any of the heavier topics… such as abortion or chastity issues… are shown well after the little ones are in bed. It’s a SAFE station.

God bless.
