The secret is not solely in being a democracy. The secret is in being “connected” to the rest of the world.Now I’m not taking a strong counterargument – that democracies WILL war against each other – but the potential for violent conflict is certainly there. Still, it is true that democracies are LESS likely to war. I think a major reason for this is that the general population has to support a war in a democracy. This is especially true the more the burden of the war is spread amongst the populace. People are less likely to send, say, their father or sister off to war than a dictator is to send a list of names to battle.
