In the years since Benedict’s historic resignation on Feb. 28, 2013, the outside world has become fascinated with him, the Vatican and his decision to resign, as is evidenced by the increasing number of papal television shows

Pope Benedict was looking pretty rough, at least physically, in the last video I saw of him (meeting the new Cardinals last fall). It’s apparent that he still has all of his mental capabilities though. It’s amazing to think that he could still be Pope now if he didn’t resign, but it might be questionable whether or not he would still be alive if he had remained in his office given the demands of the job.
